Addison is now on his third Special Olympics sport. His first was bowling, the second was cycling, and now he is participating in golf. Addisons performance in golf has been outstanding. His category is skills, which is learning the proper way to hit the ball.
This includes putting, driving, and chipping the ball. Hopefully he will be ready for the 9 hole event next year. We are so proud of the achievements he has made!
So far this has been a great summer. Last week we had three of the grandchildren visit for a week. It was such a busy time. They had such a good week. We kept them so busy, there was no time for them to get homesick.
We went bowling, and much to my surprise, they bowled very well! We went to the beach, swimming, fishing, and paddle boating. We took them home yesterday, totally exhausted! It was as fun for my husband and I, as it was for them. This week we will have an older grandson for a week!

This is a photo of the opening ceremonies for the Florida Special Olympics Summer Games. I think this may have been one of the best experiences I have ever had. My grandson participates in several sports in the Special Olympics. We started in 2017, about half way through the year.
During his first sport I chaperoned, during the second sport I became a certified coach, and now I cannot wait to start the next sport.
Addison is very involved as an athlete, and he loves it. And he has made so many friends. The games were two days long, it was an amazing experience.
Here are four new additions to our family! We recently purchased a small chicken coop, that looks like a little dollhouse. It is adorable, but no where near a cut as these little chicks. We have had them for about 8 weeks now, and boy do they grow fast.
When we got them they were so tiny. They fit right in the palm of your hand. Not anymore! They have grown in leaps and bounds. We should start getting eggs from these little pretties by the end of August. In the mean time I will enjoy watching them grow, play and chase each other around the coop!
This is a photo of some of the the Special Olympics cycling team. The story was done promoting our county games competition. Pictured are my grandson, Addison, Amanda, and Ellianna, one of the volunteers. Ellie is a college student that dedicates many hours of her time to our team.
She times the athletes heats and cheers them on. She speaks three languages, and is also fluent in American sign language. She is a lovely young adult, and we thank her for all she does for our Special Olympic athletes.
