I opened the red Decorative frame into my photo editor, and added my photo of a red house from the museum area in Lempäälä Kuokkalankoski (Finland). I edited the photo by repairing the wall, which had an ugly patch in it. Because I wasn't happy with the result, I added a lilac tree (Syringa vulgaris), some bushes, and white Midsummer roses (Rosa spinosissima or "juhannusruusu", as we call it.) and a stone near the wall. Then I made vignettes of big syringa flowers and midsummer roses and attached them in the opposite corners.

I saved the file and printed the sheet. I cut the topper out and attached a white paper lace around it. Then I attached my card front on a green base card leaving a narrow border.

The house in the photo represents the most common house type in Finland after the WW2. Finland was fighting against the expansionist Soviet Union in three separate wars. Naturally the raw materials were scarce after that, and this type of house, the so called "rintamamiestalo" (=type of detached house build after the Second World War for the families of soldiers who fought in the battlefront) was invented. The house had 1 1/2 floors, it was made of wood and had a steep gabled roof. Red and cream were the favourite colors for this kind of houses. The red frame in this set is exactly the right shade of red. So when I saw it, I knew immediately what to make with it. The syringa and midsummer roses are also one of the most loved garden plants here in Finland.
