I took a good quality black A4 sheet of card and cut the design out of it using my CraftROBO. I then took a sheet of clear sticky back plastic (of the type that school children use to cover exersise books) and stuck this behind the front, cutout, image. I selected an assortment of ultrafine glitters in green, gold, lemon, red, blue, purple and pink and carefully spooned the different clitters onto the back of the sticky back plastic showing through the cutout areas to build up the picture. The glitter was carefully rubbed into the sticky before the excess was tipped off. I put a white insert inside the card so that the over the edge image would stand out against a white background.
This over the edge cutout image could be decorated in so many ways, a sheet of acetate with glue placed inside each of the cutout areas could be used to attach the glitter, instead of the sticky back plastic I used. Or you could use sandy art material instead of glitter. Acetate coloured with pens such as ProMarkers gives a stain glass effect. So many possibilities.
This is a lovely design and I felt it just needed colouring in. I used 200gsm cardstock and cut the design out with my silhouette 2 machine.
I used crayons to fill the design in on a piece of white card which I stuck to the back of the design with a tape pen.
I think it looked really good. I also put a yellow jewel as the parrots eye.
