Mirror, 19x27x1,5 cm, Poplar, 1 pcCompleted by Gwyneth George
A think coat of pearlescent acrillic was painted over the frame first (having removed the mirror via the back panel first) to both seal the wood and give it a sheen without covering the natural wood grain completely. The youngest nephews had been collecting shells and stones on the beach, so after washing these and drying them completely in the airing cupboard the shells were layed out over the frame in a layout they were happy with before sticking everything in place using a hot glue gun. The mirror and back panel were then re-inserted ready for the mirror to be hung.
I had to put a sheet of paper over the mirror to take this photo because the light reflecting off it and affecting the camera's light balance.
