These bracelets are all braided using semi-gloss macram cord. Beads are added as you go along making the bracelet. These can slide freely on the bracelet whilst the rivets are attached firmly.
Cut an 85cm piece of macram cord, double it over and tie a knot, making a loop. Attach the loop in the clip on the macram board.
Thread the beads onto the doubled-over cord before securing it at the bottom of the macram board with a clip. (We have used the following order: four clay beads, one imitation leather link and five clay beads).
Cut a piece of macram cord measuring approx. 190cm. Double it over and arrange it so that the middle is underneath the two cords. Start braiding tightly. For further instructions, see our website for "Jewellery School" under "Braiding Techniques".
Braid a section measuring approx. 6.5cm.
Push up four clay beads onto the braided section.
Attach a rivet between the two cords in the middle and braid tightly around the "collar" of the rivet.
Braid another section measuring approx. 2.5cm and push up the large bead with the imitation leather finish. In order to create a symmetrical design, repeat the mirror image of these steps.
Braid once around this and the 5th bead.
Assemble the four cords in both ends in a knot and cut off the ends.
