Heat bondable fibres have many applications. See the following.

Heat bondable fibres

Step 1

1. Place a felt pad in the bag. Form the heat bondable fibres into a round petal, place it on the bag and stick the felting needle through the fibres and the bag several times, until the felt petal stays there.

Step 2

2. Form the next petal in another colour and repeat the process. Continue until the flower is complete. If you want a soft, thin look, then skip the ironing and skip step 4.

Step 3

3. Place a piece of baking paper over the bag and iron lightly at low temperature.

Step 4

4. Sew on sequin flowers on bag and handle.

Other techniques when working with heat bondable fibres

Motif with heat bondable fibres: Place a wad of heat bondable fibre in between two pieces of baking paper and iron lightly at low temperature. Cut shapes/figures from the heat bondable fibres, you have just ironed. The motif can be attached onto the subject you have chosen.

Heat bondable fibres on glass: Place the heat bondable fibre in a thin layer on the glass. Use a fan heater to pass air over the fibres and the glass so that the fibres will take shape from the glass. Be careful not to hold the fan heater too close to the glass, the fibres will otherwise wear off the gloss. You can also iron a thin layer of heat bondable fibres in different colours and then glue it onto the glass with glass decoupage (remember baking paper).
