… youngest son,Paul Wright, is in Madeira at the moment. Hes not there for a holiday (but I think hell still enjoy his time there! lol) but is there to represent The United Kingdom on the athletics track in the 800 metres!
Hes already won a lot of medals in the past but has never competed at this level before! We are waiting with bated breath and have got everything crossed for him … and whatever the results we couldnt be prouder of him!
…. Its getting rather a bit scary …. already! lol Even though All Hallows Eve in still three weeks away we are seeing some rather scary things appearing in the shops, gardens and houses in our area!!
Hopefully, in they are not to busy, well be having our youngest grandchildren, Olivia and Austin, during the half term holiday …. and Im sure well be baking and crafting on a Halloween theme too! lol

Periodically at AirPlay the youth groups my daughter runs at RAF Benson, they will have a session devoted to animals etc.
Sometimes a charity group comes in with various animals, but on this occasion it was people on camp and the pets etc. one of my daughters friends a a few exotic the pets, one of them being a tarantula.
Now whilst the children and staff werent holding the tarantula, she did bring in the recently shedded skin which the children could hold if they wanted to.
Now my daughter from being young has suffered from arachnophobia (fear of spiders), it didnt matter what size they were they terrified her and she couldnt even bear to look at pictures of them.
Over the years she has tried to desensitise herself, so gradually she has been able to deal with small spiders.
This session she had was a massive step for her in that she held the skin, which still looks like the live tarantula.
I was so proud of her for doing that, she didnt want to impart her fear onto the children and took a massive step in her own phobia.

… weekend my youngest granddaughter was competing in the schools cross country race. It was a combined race with 4 different races all in the same race. Olivia was in the younger female group and the boys had 2 age groups too.
There were lots of starters in the race but Olivia was soon way out in front of them all … by the time she reached the finish line there were no other competitors in sight!
To say we are proud of her is a big understatement! lol

Well the soccer season is over and awards have been handed out. Last news I told about the grand daughter winning their Grand Final and they were awarded their medal and trophy on the day.
However the adults had their award night and my daughter and her partner both won awards. Daughter was Coaches pick for Player of the Year and her partner was awarded The Rocky Award which was for her dedication to the game over the entire season.
The team themselves are for over 35s and apart from two this was everyone elses first season playing social soccer.
They made the semi finals but were beaten in the semi game. Not bad for a bunch of old women that had never played soccer before. So proud of all of them for their efforts this season. Was great to go and cheer them on even on the cold raining nights. This weeks designs are both Christmas Toppers kits.

Most days we take the dogs to our local country park. In the middle is a fenced area where three cows graze every day. Sam always barks at them, but they arent at all bothered. They are used to people and dogs walking past.
One cow in particular always comes up to the fence to say hello. She is so beautiful, I think she even posed for me this morning.

… the beginning of October and although weve had some really cold days …. and quite a bit of rain … there are still some lovely flowers blooming in our garden and along the trails and footpaths near here.
They are lovely to see but Im guessing they wont last too much longer because the weather man has forecast lots of heavy rain and some rather strong wind and gales!
My youngest granddaughter might be competing in the cross country on Saturday … but if the gales are too strong and gusty it might be cancelled for health and safety reasons!
But hopefully it will go ahead and Ill be cheering her on once again!

RAF Benson is a small school, so when a beloved teacher sadly passed last year from cancer, they decided to raise funds for a memorial bench at the school.
The teacher was loved and respected by all who knew her, and it was a difficult day for staff, parents and children when she passed.
Alfie my grandson had been taught by her when he attended there, and even though he was at high school he wrote her family a lovely letter.
The bench was revealed this week, and the shape chosen was to represent a hug from her when the children sat on it.
The children all made flowers to hang from the rose arch and two climbing roses placed either side to hopefully grow over the arch.
It was a beautiful tribute for a wonderful teacher.

Went to Blackpool last week to visit my little Elsea. My youngest granddaughter, whilst there our daughter took us to a local carvery pub. It was just delicious!!After we had the choice of the desserts OMG they were huge. Here was the cream eclair over 8 inches in size.
I just couldnt believe my eyes. But it was so nice!! However I couldnt eat it all it was just too much .They also had cakes. The slice was humongous wide and roughly 8 inches tall. 4 layers too. How do people eat a main meal then eat a whole one of these desserts?
Dont know . I just couldnt manage it!

The other day I grabbed a few of our Golden Retrievers, Billy and Sams teddies to wash. Sam watched in horror as I put them in the washing machine. Once they were finished, both the boys watched me take them out of the machine into the laundry basket.
They then excitedly followed me into the garden. As I was trying to hang them on the washing line, they kept stealing them out of the basket. Once I had finally managed to hang them on the line and walked away, I turned around to find them trying to steal them off the line.
One of them, I am not sure who, managed to pull one off, and Sam ran off with it. They thought it was all a great game. I must admit I was laughing, they are such fun.

I cant believe Otto my daughters Wiermaraner and our Grand-fur baby is now one year old.
Even though I live in Nottinghamshire and my daughter and family live in Oxfordshire I feel Ive been involved in every aspect of Ottos first year through photographs, videos and messages of what he has been up to.
He was a great companion and comfort to my daughter earlier this year when her husband was deployed to Cyprus and they formed a very close bond.
That bond hasnt been broken and even though he has grown and now weighs 31kg he still loves his cuddles and likes to snuggle even though sometimes personal space is well and truly invaded lol.

so last saturday we had a stall ,my sister and i at Holt station for the 40s weekend ,it was great fun very busy and a wonderful atmosphere most people dressed up ,there was singing dancing and when the trains came in it was a joy to see the costumes as everyone came off the steam trains ,we did very well I sold lots of cards and gave out cards sending people to craftsuprint so hopefully some new customers

… great Grandson, Noah, is now just over a year old! Hes such a happy young man, especially when we go to the park!
Im lucky in that he lives a few streets away, although as his Mum, my granddaughter, and his dad work … they sort of top and tail the day with them switching over for childcare around midday!
Sooo I really cherish the times I get to see him. And the best thing is … that as Im a great grandma … I get to give him back for all the other bits!
Lol!

Following on from my news about Daisys school project on her family tree and history. Today, her school class put on an exhibition of their mini-history projects. Here is Daisys table. We are all so proud of her. She put so much work into it. And she is only five years old.
You can see the photos of her great grand parents and the hospital where I was born. Then there is the magical picture filled with love hearts, unicorns and rainbows that she made.

In the last few months Ive been buying pre-loved jewellery. Usually a mystery job lot, a mix of vintage and modern costume jewellery, not perfect maybe some broken pieces or single earrings etc.
Ive always loved jewellery since being a child, and since inheriting my mothers brooch collection, Ive also got a passion for brooches, old or new if they appeal to me.
Ive seen so many people, usually from the USA up-cycle, repair, clean and give new life to pieces to sell or keep the idea really appealed to me.
Ive loved sorting through the bags, mostly tangles but Ive sat patiently and untangled every piece.
Some beyond help but 90% of it was good. Sometimes I would find a little bit of treasure, like the vintage bracelet in the picture. It needs some repair and on cleaning it I noticed a hallmark, it was worn a bit but still there and further research and testing it is sterling silver with a gold plating.
What a fabulous find, I dont know if I can repair the delicate chain border yet, Im still learning but for now it will go into my jewellery collection as my first treasure find.
