Toppers - Butterflies & Roses With Leaves Completed by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

I have used this Topper, Butterflies and Roses with Leaves, as part of an embellishment on one of the stitching cards, by Emy van Schaik, Floral Corner, cup894423_1549 .

I copied the design to be stitched and beaded onto a background sheet, Christmas Lace Effect, a design by Clare Walker, cup814313_79993, of which I had changed the colour to be a very pale green.

I completed the stitching using green and golden yellow for the corner, and using the colours of orange, bright pink, red and a burgundy rose to complement the flowers and green to bring in the shade of the leaves and the ribbon.

I used my permanent pens to colour some of the clear glass seed beads and the rice beads. I trimmed the card topper to 13cm square and backed it with a 14cm square rose print backing sheet using D.S. tape.

The main card is the same rose print on both sides which omits the need to have an extra insert.

I have edged the topper and the backing sheet, with a burgundy permanent pen, and the main card with a green pen.

I coloured the sentiment and the edges of a small piece of the rose print to use as the backing for the sentiment, and attached them to the card front.

I made some rose twigs to attach the leaves onto, and used clear Multi Glue Gel to attach the twigs, leaves and roses.

I tied a bright light green bow and used red power tape to attach it to appear as if it was holding the bunch of roses.
