8x8 Floral Friend Decoupage Topper
A simple and elegant topper for a dear friend that cries out for glitter, gems, pearls or feathers.
A heartfelt sentiment on the panel reads: "Friends are the Family we Choose for ourselves..."
The butterfly has 2 decoupage layers to give the wings depth and appear as if it were to flutter away at any moment.
To give the wings a lifelike shape, I gently rub the back of the layers in the palm of my hand with the handle of my scissors to give them a nice curve, then attach them at the body with a thin strip of red super strong double-sided tape and add a small foam pad at the far edge. I find this gives excellent dimension to the wings and gives them a 'wow' effect!

I printed this pattern onto glossy photo paper full sized and cut the pieces out. I used a black card stock for the card base. I used DST to attach a brilliant gold border taken from an award type paper all along the edge of the card.
I had to trim just a small amount from the printed pattern to fit it into the border. This is one I will hang in my craft room.
