Pink Wild Roses & Butterfly + DecoupageCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

Here is a stunningly beautiful card design by Ann lever so suitable for so many female occasions and celebrations. I have used it as a birthday card today. I printed the sheet provided 3 times giving me plenty of elements to use in the 3 pages of the finished card.

I have used white satin finished 120gsm card and printed the design at 12.7x17.8cm. I made the 3xpage card using mauve 200gsm card and have cut 2 pieces at 25x15cm and one at 15x 12.5cm.

I used red power tape to secure the insert section to the inside of the back section of the card.

I prepared the topper next but did not attach it until I had completed the insert sections. I attached 2.5cm wide decorative ivory lace to the wrong side, outside edges of the 15x12.5cm, mauve 200gsm card using roller glue tape as I attached the lace to each side and while folding the corners.

I used teal blue card cut at 14x11cm as the main backing sheet and attached the teal coloured 2.5cm organza ribbon across horizontally 4cm up from the bottom edge of the image.

I attached the lace edged mauve card to the back of the teal backing sheet and secured the teal organza ribbon at the rear of the mauve 15 x 12.5cm card using glue runner tape, securing the tails at the back.

I then attached one complete12.5 x 9cm image using D.S tape to the front of the teal backing sheet. I then attached the pink glitter fine line peel off strips to the outer edges of both the teal card and the main image.

I attached this section of the topper to the card front using red power tape and set this aside.

I used one complete image to carefully cut away the butterfly imaged centre oval, leaving the edges of the leaves of the floral arrangement still as part of the remaining main image.

I used glitter glue to high light the edge of the oval frame and once this was dry, I cut away the outer edge frame line, reserving this for the insert, I then attached this to the set aside topper using a thin weight D.S.

Padded tape.

I used the 3rd main image to cut away the wider version of the oval central frame and the outer wider edged frame, reserving these elements to use as part of the insert.

I set the topper aside while I completed the 2 insert pages using the elements I had reserved.

The first page has the larger oval frame and 2 of the extra flower sprays attached on the left side and the retained outer frame with the smaller oval shape on the right side.

I have attached the birthday sentiment and the butterfly as extra embellishments. The next page has the small oval with butterfly on the left and I have used the full outer frame to attach to the verse I have chosen to then attach to the right side.

I then completed the card front by attaching the last frame, the extra smaller elements, the butterfly and the flower sprays using padded D.S. tape, the small mauve pearls and the teal blue gems using clear UHU glue.

I tied the bow and attached the double lace rose using needle and thread to the front of the bow and glued the pearl into the centre before attaching the finished element using red power D.S tape.

To make the rose I used a 10cm length of the 2.5cm wide lace to cut lengthwise, approximately 1cm wide and use the selvedge edge to stitch a fine gathering stitch, pull the thread and form and stitch close the circle firmly.

Use the remainder of the lace to gather the cut edge in the same manner and stich this to the underneath of the smaller rose.

I have also used a fine silver gell pen to high light the butterfly’s antennae and wispy pieces plus the spots.

I am so very please with finished card and am inspired to look at more of Ann Lever’s designs. Thank you for this beautiful design. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
