Ed055 Valentine HeartCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus
It is always the season to say, I love you, to someone dear to you even if it is not Valentine Season.
I loved making this card from the design, by Emy van Schaik.
I copied the design onto a white 14cm square card and used my pink range of alcohol pens to colour and shade the different elements of the design to give it dimension.
I then used clear vellum to attach to the top, using a mini dot glue pen, at the corners only, and clamped them together using 2 tiny bull dog clips.
I was able to see the pricked design through the vellum, by sitting in a good light.
I have used a metallic deep plum coloured single thread to stitch the outer left hand edge and the circles as indicated on the design.
I have used embroidery floss in a deep rose pink for the next line of stitching and for the leaf effect shapes I have used very pale pink embroidery floss.
Across the 2 half- moon shapes I have used 11 tiny round pearls and used the same pearls for the complete line of the outside right hand edge of the heart shape.
For the centre circle stitched shape I have added a very dark pink sequin with a tiny pink seed bead in the centre and for the 2 next sized circles I have stitched a tiny pink seed bead in the centre of each.
In each of the 5 petal shapes I have stitched 2 thin pink glass tube beads joined in the centre of each by a tiny pink seed bead.
At the lower end of the heart I have attached 2 silver 8mm metallic rice beads and one pink coloured metallic rice bead.
I cut out the finished work I cm wider than the original hear shaped design and traced this to make an identical shape in a pink card and attached this by using a combination of strips of D.S. tape and the mini glue dots onto the pink backing sheet, to secure the stitching.
I made 2 backing sheets, a 14x13cm heart and shooting star print and a 15x14cm rose pink an joined them together with D.S tape.
I attached the silver peel off decorative strips and measured the centre vertical line at 7cm to attach the rose pink 1.5cm wide satin ribbon and secure it at the back before attaching this to the card front.
I made the card using a 29.5 x16 cm textured pink card, which I scored and folded. I was then able to attach the completed stitched and beaded work using padded D.S. large squares. I made the bow from the same ribbon and attached it using red power tape.
I have used the same heart and shooting star print as the insert. This has made a stunning card, I will look at it a while longer before I am happy to part with it.
Than you Emy, I absolutely love this design. I am going to try it in more masculine styled shades to see how it turns out.
I am sending you a very big Hug. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus
