Stitching Patter Border 11Completed by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

I have stitched both these designs from the sheet provided and treated the card making part of the two projects in the same style albeit using different colour combinations.

After copying the flower design and stitching it using embroidery floss, and stitching varying from 1-3, 1-4 and 1-5 as the design required, I used water colour pencils both in dry and wet form to shade the flower as a pansy.

I used yellow embroidery thread to form French knots for the centre of the flower. I backed the finished design with light card using red power tape and then cut around the stitched design.

To make the card, and the insert, I have used a light purple card cut at 24cm x15cm and defined all edges, both inside and outside, using a silver metallic pen.

I have used a wrapping paper print of pansies in shades of purple and mauve to make a 11.75 x14.75cm backing sheet for the card front and a 23.75 x 14.75cm backing sheet for the inside of this purple main card.

I attached the larger backing sheet to the inside of the card using D.S. tape. I set this aside while I completed the topper and the extra insert.

Using a softer shade of purple 14.25x 11.25cm as the next backing sheet to attach to the smaller pansy print, and then a pale mauve tiny white spot backing sheet cut at 13 x10cm as the top backing sheet.

I then used a pale mauve and white striped backing strip cut at 11.75 x 1.5cm to attach horizontally across 5cm up from the lower edge of the pansy floral backing sheet.

I have used a purple white stitched narrow ribbon to attach vertically 1.5cm in from the left hand side and attached a tiny simple bow.

I then used red power tape to attach the topper to the card front. I attached the purple self- adhesive gems and the completed stitched pansy, I attached, using tiny padded D.S. squares.

I have made an extra light weight purple card cut at 21.5 x 13.5 and score and folded it off centre at the 10cm mark from the left hand side.

All edges are defined using the silver metallic pen, before attaching the back of this extra insert onto the inside of the back cover of the main card, allowing a very small margin away from the main card centre fold, to facilitate an easy closure of the card when finished.

I have attached a strip of cotton lace to the right hand edge of the front page of the extra insert and then used the same mauve and white strip backing sheet cut at 14.5 x 10cm and the same mauve white spot backing sheet to make a similar horizontal strip 5cm up from the lower edge.

I have used a peel off sentiment to mount with padded D.S. tape and a very small photograph print of the main front page as embellishments.

I opened the insert to cover the page with a white backing sheet on which I have printed the verse I have written.

I have also left the left hand ide for my special greeting and made a tiny pansy using 5 petal shapes cut from the spotty paper and my wet and dry pencils.

I haven’t decided on the occasion or celebration to use as the greeting for the other stitched design as yet and will add it to the last photograph space later in the week.

Thank you, EricaWilma Sensibility, for this cute, easy design. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
