Ed034 Flowered HeartCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

This is a perfect time to purchase and make this card with so many celebrations on the horizon, Easter, Mothers’ day, Valentine’s day and of course Birthdays.

I found completing this stitching pattern a very rewarding experience, and the results are absolutely beautiful.

I used a larger size this time as I wanted to be able to use metallic threads to stitch most of the pattern.

I used regular thread to complete the beading. After pricking the design onto a rectangle white 180gsm card which measures 15 x 13cm. I used a purple metallic thread to complete the flowers, by following the stitching guide.

I used a green metallic thread to complete the leaves, and a gold metallic thread to stitch the scallop section of the heart and the diamond grid which forms the body of the heart.

I didn’t have any green rice beads so I used cream pearl rice beads to colour with 2 different shades of green permanent alcohol pens, and set them aside overnight to dry.

I used the same green metallic thread to sew the stems for the leaves.

When this was all completed I used a polyester mauve thread to sew the 15 seed beads onto the inside of the scallop.

I used a green polyester thread to sew the green rice beads in place and for the 9 tiny seed beads, which look like buds at the end of the leaves and stems.

I made 2 roses using 2 x 15cm lengths of mauve grosgrain 1.5 cm wide ribbon.

I used water colour pencils to colour in the flowers and leaves.

I then made a backing sheet, from a print with line drawings of coloured daisies on a deep purple background which I cut at 16.5 x 14.25cm, I highlighted the edges with a purple pen and used D.S. tape to attach it to a white backing sheet which measures 17 x 14.75cm, and I used the purple pen to colour the edges of this white backing sheet.

I attached the topper to the backing sheets using padded D.S. tape, and then used a 2.5cm wide mauve organza ribbon to wrap around the top edge and secure at the back.

The main card is purple and measures 30 x 17.5cm, and I attached the backing sheets with the topper to this using Padded D.S. tape.

The jewel strips I attached around the edge of the main topper and used the same mauve ribbon to make a simple bow, which I attached with red power tape.

To make the insert, I used a Pink floral backing sheet cut to fit the inside of the card, and used the design cup535384_415 by Nick Bowley in the top half using strips of the purple daisy insert to make a simple frame.

For the lower half I cut a rectangle and made the same type of frame around the edge of this and made an organza rose and some paper leaves as an enhancement.

A design and a completed card fit for a princess. Pamela Horton.
