Stitching Patterns Border Frame 06Completed by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

Whenever I choose to complete a stitching design, I have a recipient in mind and use suitably coloured threads.

For these 2 border patterns Frame 06, I have used delicate pink for the flower pattern, which is the feature card photograph and bold green for the plant pattern, which is the second photograph.

To complete the pink flower card I have used a white light weight card cut at 9cm x14cm and stitched the stems using metallic green, the bud at the top and the 2 flowers I have embroidered, using pale pink embroidery floss and then stitched around the outline of each petal.

I used a soft green pencil to colour the stems and a permanent green pen to define the edges of the white card before attaching this to a white backing sheet with red power tape to secure the stitching.

Using D.S. tape, I have attached a 10 x 14.5cm pink backing sheet and an 11cm x 15cm green print backing sheet onto the back of the completed stitched topper.

I have used a matching pink grosgrain ribbon and bow over the left hand edge of the 3 topper pieces, and secured it at the back before attaching this to the matching 12 x 16cm textured pink card front.

The insert has cup986138_21027, delicate pastel backing sheet printed onto both sides. I have used a small image of the finished card on the left hand side of this insert.

I cut the white card for the next card at17.5cm wide and 15.5cm high and centred the design, allowing for the left hand side to fold under as the backing to secure the stitching and used green embroidery floss to complete the stitching, then coloured the design with water colour pencils, I have lightly sketched the grass, sky and clouds and folded the topper front to measure 11.5 x 15.5cm.

I have used red power tape to secure the stitching. The main card is a soft brick brown cut at 25 x 16.5cm and I have used an olive green diagonal pattern print as the insert.

I have used gold and dark green peel off strips as embellishments to the front of the card and attached the sentiment To complete the insert I have used peel off sentiments and attached a small image of the card front onto the left hand side and a verse by Janyce Cotterill from the male free verse section attached to the right hand side.

Both designs are quick and simple to stitch and complete and lend themselves to a variety of stitching techniques, with which I love to experiment.

Thank you for the designs, I will use them many times. Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus
