Ed032 Bead Border
Stitching with beads
Photographs from the Community (3)
I printed the sheet provided so that the image was able to be pricked onto a square 13.5cm card. I was able after completing the stitching and the beading to then trim this down to 12.5cm square. I used a cream card as the main card to be stitched.
The threads I used are all polyester and I used the shades of coral pale jade green and a bright yellow.
I used the coral thread and the recommended stitch lengths to complete the outside frame as indicated on the sheet provided.
I used the bright yellow thread to stitch the shorter of the 2 curves in each of the corners and the pale jade green to stitch the larger of the 2 curves in each corner.
I completed all this stitching before attaching any beads. I used 0.5mm pearl finished pale green rice beads for each of the group of 3 rice beads in the centre of each frame, and stitched them in place using the coral thread.
I then set aside the beads I planned to stitch into each corner, making 4 individual groups. Each group contains 3 green glass 0.5mm tube beads,1 pale green pearl finished 0.5mm rice beads, 6 orange glass short fat 0.3mm tube beads, 8 tiny gold glass seed beads, 5 orange glass 0.5mm rice beads, and 2 orange glass 0.7mm rice beads.
The orange rice beads are not quite as fat as the pale green rice beads and were clear beads, which I had coloured using an orange alcohol pen.
To complete the beading pattern I needed 25 beads for each corner, and I stitched all of these in place using the coral thread.
To complete project I used a total of 112 beads.
I then trimmed back the finished cream stitched and beaded card to 12.5cm square and attached it to a bright green backing sheet cut at 13.5cm square using D.S. tape.
I made the main card from a pale green and lemon tiny floral print which I cut at 29cm x 14.5cm, and attached the topper using D.S. tape.
I used a glitter cold peel off strip to attach to the outside edges of the cream card, and used the golden roses bouquet to attach to the centre front using tiny D.S padded squares and the step by step method to complete the decoupage.
I used the same backing sheet print on a lighter weight paper to attach to the inside of the card as the insert, and added 2 tiny images of the main golden rose bouquet and a verse from the Bible.
This has made an absolutely bright and beautiful card and I can already see the potential to repeat this design in many other shades.
