Ed-h the Letter H
Stitching with beads

I was so lucky that this design, by Emy, became available, when I was in need for 2 birthday cards, for friends, whose first names begin with the letter H.
Their favourite colours are entirely different, so I was able to use the same sheet for both ladies.
I used a 12cm, white card, to the design for each one. I also completed the stitching on each, before I started the beading.
The first card is the purple and mauve card, the threads for which, I used are, a silver, glitter metallic thread for the hoop, and 3 of the tiny circles. and a purple metallic thread for the tulips, and finally for the H.
The beads, for this mauve and purple card, I used are, 12 purple, 0.3cm round glass beads, 3 purple,0.4cm round glass beads, 15 silver, 0.5cm rice beads, and 6 purple kite shaped beads 0.6cm in length each of which is adorned with 6 rhinestones. The rhinestones are on the front and the back of the bead.
I then made the main card, with the backing sheets, and the decorative ribbon. All the backing sheets and the main card are edged with a permanent purple pen before matting them together with D.S tape.
The main card is edged while open and measures 30cm x 15cm.I then folded it and set it aside.
I matted the 3 backing sheets together. The largest is 14.5cm square, and is a Clare Walker design, Pink Clematis background sheet, Cup799405_7993, and the next is a pale pink, 13.5cm square, and the smallest backing sheet is a mauve, 12.5cm square.
I measured up from the lower edge of the largest backing sheet, 3cm, and I attached a 2.5 cm wide satin mauve ribbon across the front of the mauve backing sheet and attached it at the front, of this sheet, and at the back, of the largest backing sheet.
Then I matted this to the front of the white card. I needed to trim the completed stitched and beaded card to 11.5 x 11.5cm, being careful to keep the design central.
I edged this topper, with the permanent pen, and used D.S. tape to attach it to the card front. I used the same ribbon to tie a simple bow, which I attached with red power tape.
To make the silver and bead earrings I used one of each of the beads from the beading on the card. To attach these to the front of the card. I used a small piece of white card to edge in the purple. make some holes with my pricking tool and using silver metallic thread attached 2 jump rings, sided by side, to the top edge of this card. It was easy then to attach this with padded tape to the top of the main card front. And then slip the hooks over the jump rings.
I followed much the same procedure with the next card. The threads I used, were mostly polyester sewing threads, except for the 3 small circles, holding the round beads. They are made with purple metallic thread. The circle is completed in a yellow thread, the tulips in an orange thread, the H, and 3 of the tiny exposed circles, in a deep green thread.
The beads I used are, 18 purple, 0.3cm,round glass beads, 3 purple 0.4cm, round glass beads, 12 orange, tube 0.3cm, short, but fat beads, 3 pendulum shaped 0.5cm, clear glass beads, that I coloured with an orange permanent pen, and 3 of the purple kite beads with the rhinestones as used above.
The main card 29cm wide and 14.75cm high. I edge it while open with a green permanent pen, then folded it in half and set it aside, while I made the three backing sheets. As I made each one I edged them with the green pen.
The largest is, in Autumn shades, and is from my stash, and this measures 13.5 x 13cm, the next is a dull orange shade, and measures 12.5 x 12.5cm, the smallest is a deep green and measures, 11.5 x 11.5cm. I matted these together with D.S. tape and attached the two ribbons. To do this, I taped the gold, 1cm wide, satin ribbon, onto the front of the green backing sheet, 3cm up, from the lower edge, of the largest backing sheet. I then used D.S. tape to attach the orange organza, 0.6cm ribbon, to the centre and over the top of the gold ribbon.
I wrapped these 2, together, around to the back, of the largest backing sheet, and firmly attached them with red power tape.
I used padded D.S tape to attach these backing sheets onto the main card. I then cut down the main stitched and beaded card to 10.5cm x 10.5cm, and used the red power tape to attach it to the front of the card. I made a bow using both of the ribbons loosely together.
I then made the earrings to match. However as didn't have enough of the exact same beads, I substituted slightly, and these shades actually suit her complexion, and colouring better. I attached these in the same way but attached an organza bow at the top of the small card.
I am absolutely delighted with the results, and know my lady friends will as well.
Thank You, Emy, for another one of your beautiful designs. I will have to watch your site, as I need an A for January. and a C for April. These are both birthdays as well.
