I have a love relationship with teddy bears, and have for a very long time. It has caused me some distress, as at 75 I have had to downsize considerably, and now only have 5 of my very special friends out of the labelled and packed boxes.
One of these is exactly like the bear on this card. I will include a photo. Obviously I could not let this design, by Susan Heanes, pass me by. I printed the sheet, I had purchased, onto 200gsm CB white card. I cut out all the elements, and used a burgundy background sheet, cup287672_1571, from the freebie vault.
I cut it at 12 x 11cm and coloured the edges with a deep burgundy, permanent pen. I used padded D.S. tape to attach the main image, leaving a left hand margin of 0.5 cm from the large heart to the backing sheet edge.
I used very tiny and very sharp scissors to fringe all the white edges of each element related to the bear image.
I then used the flat edge of these same scissors to lightly ruffle the fringing I had made. I used the step by step method to then attach each of the elements related to the bear image. I used clip art red gingham, printed onto 200gsm white card, to make a heart and a size larger check in the gingham for the next backing sheet.
This gingham backing sheet measures, 13 x 12.5cm. I used 2 ribbons, a 3cm wide, white satin and a 1.5cm wide, diagonal red and white stripe to attach, horizontally, using white glue to the front of this red gingham backing sheet, 2cm up from the bottom edge of the backing sheet.
I then used power tape to secure the tails at the back of the backing sheet. I cut a 9cm doily in half and pleated each half, attaching them together with white glue, to form a half circle, which I attached to the lower left hand corner, using white glue.
I matched this half circle doily shape, with the smaller gingham print, and attached it to the back of the doily.
I attached the red gingham heart to a small piece of another 9cm doily, using D.S. tape, and folded the excess right hand side of this doily piece, around to the back of the gingham backing sheet, while tucking the left hand edge of the smaller heart under the edge of the larger heart.
I used the 3 images of the chocolates, to make a decoupage. Using tiny D.S. padded squares, and then the same squares to attach it to the red gingham heart.
I made the onestep bow with the diagonal red and white striped ribbon, and attached a very small piece of the doily, slightly ruffled, behind the bow, and attached it at the very middle bottom edge of the topper.
I made a white card which measures, 29x 14.5 cm, and used D.S. padded tape to attach the topper to the card front.
I attached 5 red rhinestone jewels to the card front. For the insert, I made 4 different sized hearts.
The largest is red gingham, the next size is white, the next is a small piece of the doily cut into a heart shape, and the smallest is cut from the same red gingham.
The 6 gingham strips have been cut from the same sized gingham and each one measures 12.5 cm. These were all attached with tiny dots of white glue. I am absolutely delighted with this outcome. It is a beautiful teddy, to be loved by any recipient.
Thank you, Susan, for making this available for me to purchase. The last 2 photographs are of my own gorgeous bear called Nareen. She is shy and the magnets in her hands, make it easy for her to pretend she is not there.
It is amazing what the thought of the chocolates, coaxed her to do for the next photo.
