Christmas SantaCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus
OccasionThis is such a jolly Christmas scene from yesteryear, which has made into delightful greeting card. The design is a vintage style, by Gritte Kritiansen, and is a very easy step by step decoupage card front.
I printed the sheet provided onto white 120gsm card at 17.8 x 12.7cm and cut out the main element leaving intact a very small white margin all round.
I used this margin to define the outside edges using a green permanent pen. I attached the red ribbon across the back, at 3cm down from the top edge and left long tails to later wrap around the rest of the backing sheets.
I cut a yellow backing sheet at 12.5 x 9.5, and defined the edges with a green pen. I cut out a white backing sheet at 14cm x 10.25cm and defined the edges with a red pen. I secured the ribbon around the backing sheets with D.S. tape and the using padded D.S. tape attached this topper to the card front which when open measures 29.5 x 11cm.
The main card is printed with the cup797371_79993, Christmas Mistletoe and Berries, a design by Clare Walker, onto both sides of the card then scored and folded before attaching the topper.
I cut out the smaller elements and completed the decoupage using padded D.S. tape and small squares. I used the white glitter glue pen to colour the beard, the hat trim, the cuff, the coat trim and the trouser trim.
I used gold glitter glue pen on the star and the glow around the candles. I attached the front box present using padded tape and used the red glitter glue pen to colour the bow.
I allowed time for all the glitter glue to dry completely before I defined all inside and outside edges of the main card using a red pen, then for the insert I attached a peel off present and sentiment and a vintage style free verse, written by Janyce Cotterill.
I tied a simple bow and used power tape to attach it to the left hand side of the card.
The result is this magical looking traditional card. I love this design and will use it for many Christmases to come. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
