Christmas BellCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

Occasion
Christmas / Christmas Other

I love this vintage style design by Gitte Kristiansen, and so I have made 2 different cards for Christmas Greeting cards and 2 gift cards using this same sheet I have purchased.

I have used the same measurements for the greeting cards however I have used different colours for the backing sheets, and the embellishments.

I have used gold snowflakes for the finished card with the blue background and silver snowflakes for the card with the white background.

For both of the greeting cards and the gift cards I have used the background design by Clare Walker, Christmas Mistletoe and Berries, cup797371_79993, and printed it on both the outside and inside of a 120gsm white card, which I then cut at 29 x 14.5cm for each greeting card and I used the discarded pieces to make the gift cards.

For the white backing sheet card, I defined the inside and outside edges with a green marker pen.

To complete the white background card I made an 80gsm copy of the sheet provided and made 3 backing sheets, a white cut at 11cm square, a red cut at 12cm square and a black cut at 13cm square.

I defined the white main backing sheet with a red pen, the red backing sheet with a red pen and the black backing sheet with a silver pen.

I matted these together with D.S. tape and then wrapped the silver and red ribbon around all 3 backing sheets and attached them to the card front using D.S. tape.

I cut out the bell from the 80gsm copy leaving the shadow intact, and using D.S. tape attached it in place on the card front.

I then made a copy of the sheet provided onto a 120gsm white card, and cut out all the elements.

I used the bell, minus the shadow area and used padded D.S tape to attach it to the card front.

I used the step by step method and tiny padded D.S. squares and thickened white glue to attach the smaller poinsettia elements in place.

I made a double bow and attached it with white glue. The insert was very easy to complete.

I used some of the paper smaller elements as embellishments, and some peel off greetings, and a verse, by Janyce Cotterill, So Times Have Changed, from the Vintage Christmas free verses.

I punched a number of silver snowflakes to attach to the card front and used a silver glitter glue pen to add more dots as embellishments.

I used the glitter pen to add sparkle to the insert.

To complete the blue background card, I followed exactly the same procedure, but using different colours for the backing sheets, and their edges, a gold ribbon and bow and gold snowflakes and a gold glitter glue pen to complete the embellishments.

It is amazing the difference in the appearance of these 2 cards by simply changing all the background colour combinations.

I will use this card again many times for Christmas altering the colour schemes. This is a wonderful nostalgic scene which makes and absolutely beautiful card. Pamela Horton.
