This card is for a friend who has a nephew turning 12 years old, and he is a computer game fanatic.

I made the main card first as I had planned a complicated insert for the card, and I wanted to be sure it would all fit neatly.

The card is a matte dark sky blue cut at 29cm x 14.5cm. I printed out the words happy birthday in various font styles, colours and at font size 9, using the smallest margins possible.

I cut it at 27.5 x 14.25cm and attached it to the inside of the card with D.S. tape on either side of the centre line.

I used clip art and magazine adds to print and cut out the covers of as many current games as I could find and then selected appropriate ones for a 12 year old to play.

I printed them in long strips, and cut them to display as seen in the attached photograph, attaching them with D.S. tape.

The computer screen and game screen, I have made a little larger.

I coloured a silver peel off number 12 in red, and attached it to the right hand side. I cut a piece of vellum at 14cm x 11cm and using D.S. tape attached a 22cm length of denim ribbon to the right side and wrong side at the very top of the vellum.

I added another 11cm length of D.S tape to the wrong side of the denim ribbon and attached this to the right hand side of the card insert.

This is for my friend to choose or write a greeting or a verse. The insert was now completed and I printed the sheet supplied into CB 200gsm gloss card. I cut out all the elements, and using small padded D.S. squares I completed the decoupage onto the card topper.

I then made 3 backing sheets. The largest one is a grass green which measures 13.5cm square. Before I attached it, using D.S. tape, I coloured in some shaped peel off strips in a red pen and attached them to the outside edges of the blue card front.

After attaching the green backing sheet, I coloured some silver peel off strips with a bright blue pen and attached them to the very edge of the green backing sheet.

The next backing sheet is a very bright orange, which measures 12.5cm square and I attached it using D.S. tape, and then added lime green coloured peel off strips to the very edges of the orange backing sheet.

The next backing sheet is a textured matte fawn coloured card, cut at 11.75 cm square, which is only very slightly larger than the topper.

I attached padded D.S. tape to the back of this, but did not peel off the protective covering strips until I had attached it, using regular D.S. tape, to the back of the completed topper.

I used 12peel off, one centimetre high, number twelves to colour with a blue metallic pen. I then attached these to small bright yellow card and used padded tiny D.S squares to attach them to the card front.

I used the sentiment supplied and attached it using padded D.S. Squares.

This makes up into a very bright card for a boy and I was thrilled to find it for purchase.
