This is a beautiful art deco style, very female design suitable to make as a card for most female celebrations, including most adult age ranges.
The colours are very effective with the ivory and burgundy, and with the pink rose background as an added feminine touch.
I printed the card onto CB 180gsm card and cut out all the elements, including the blank sentiment tag. I used a burgundy permanent pen to use in different widths, using a ruler as a guide, on the main image and on each of the backing sheets and the main card.
This gave the completed card a much more layered and dimensional appearance.
The first backing sheet is a background sheet by Clare walker, cup802451_79993, and it is cut at 13.5 x 10.5 and is then attached to the next Ivory backing sheet using D.S. tape.
The ivory backing sheet which measures 14 x 11 cm, and the rose background sheet are then wrapped together with a 2.5cm wide burgundy satin ribbon 3cm up from the lower edge of the ivory backing sheet, and secured at the back, using red power tape.
The next backing sheet is again the same rose background sheet, which measures 14.5 x 12cm, and continuing to use regular D.S. tape, I then attached this larger rose backing sheet to the main ivory card front, and to the other backing sheets.
I completed the decoupage, using padded tiny squares and attached the peel off vertical happy birthday strip, which I had also coloured with the burgundy pen, before using the padded D.S. squares to attach the sentiment to the card front.
I tied a simple bow using the same burgundy ribbon and attached it using red power tape. I opened the main card and coloured the edges with the burgundy pen and then using the same rose background sheet I made an insert for the card.
I used a dark rose pink and a circular piece of the rose background sheet to make the flower, attaching it to the insert with white glue.
The verse is from a previous purchase cup846611_9035, number 4a, by Brenda Scott, which I printed off and attached to an ivory sheet, before attaching it to the rose insert.
I am delighted with the sophisticated, yet friendly appeal of this design and how it has now become a greeting card, suitable to please many recipients, so thank you, to Shirley Thompson, for making this design available for me to purchase.
