For us living in the Southern hemisphere this image of a very cute and cheeky bunny surrounded by berries is a reminder of the Autumn black berries and being able in the Easter Holidays to be able to go blackberry picking.
What fun and what black faces and tongues, it caused us all to have. I have made the main card from a garden print which I copied to onto both sides of A4, 200gsm Crafty Bob white photo paper and then cut it at 24x12cm and scored and folded it.
I copied the sheet supplied twice onto the one A4 white200gsm card and once onto 120gsm card. I used the main10.5x10.5cm image as the main backing sheet and the others to cut out some of the smaller elements to use in a step by method of decoupage.
I cut the main image horizontally across, 6.5cm down from the top, and reserved both pieces while I prepared the other backing sheets.
I have used a purple with white spot cut at 11.2 x8cm and a pink floral cut at11.2 x3.5cm. The pink backing sheet is then attached at the 7.5cm horizontal line using D.S. tape.
The top half of the main image is then attached to the backing sheet leaving the purple with white spot visible 0.5cm at the top.
The lower half of the image I have retained I have then reduced in size from the top half of the image.
It now measures from t the bottom edge up2.5cm and when attached will leave 0.5cm of the pink floral backing sheet visible at the lower edge and some of the pink floral backing sheet at the top of this lower part of the main image.
This then made the topper a finished size of 11.2cm x 11cm.
I used one length of the purple and silver ribbon to attach across horizontally at the join of the purple with white spot and the top section of the main image and wrap around to secure at the back.
I used one of the copies of the main image to then cut out the main feature of the bunny, the green egg basket and the largest of the blackberry spray.
I used padded D.S. squares to attach this to the topper.
I then attached the second horizontal ribbon across the pink backing sheet join and secured at the back. This completed topper, I then attached to the card front using D.S. tape. I cut out the silver lace frame from one of the copies and used wet thickened white glue and a fine brush to attach this to the card front.
The tiny image of the bunny I have attached using padded D.S. tape so that his paw and front hang over the purple ribbon.
I have attached a hand- made bow, silver decorative peel off strips and the sentiment with the corner berry cluster attached as embellishments.
To complete the insert I have attached 2 of the smaller images onto the left hand side and the verse I have written to suit the theme on the right hand side.
The verse is available on the free verses for Easter Girls. I have also made some tiny gift cards with the smaller elements, not used, from the sheet supplied. Thank you, Nick Bowley, for this delightful design. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus
