Kitten ChristmasCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

Oh Yes please! I would very much like to have this basket of darlings for Christmas. This is such a cute Christmas card. Thank you Vicky for this design.

I began to make this card, by printing out the sheet twice, onto 200gsm white card. I cut out the main element, the bow and one of the greetings from the first copy. From the second copy, and using very tiny sharp scissors, I cut out, the 3 gold corner decorations, the bow, and each of the kitten faces. When I was cutting out the kitten faces, I was also, careful to include the Christmas hat, for the tabby kitten, the shoulder and front paw for the silver and white kitten, and for the blue, grey kitten his front paw as well. I set the smaller elements aside, while I made up the card and the backing sheets.

The main card is an apple green, which I cut at, 27cm x 13cm, and scored and folded it in half. I made a red backing sheet, 12.5 x 12.5 cm, then a white backing sheet, 11.5 x 11.5cm. Before I attached these, I used a gold glitter pen, to mark the edges of the white card at a width of 0.5cm, and set it aside to dry. Once it was dry, I used padded D.S. tape strips, to attach it to the red backing sheet. I then used a gold peel off strip, to decorate the edges, of the red backing sheet. I used a, 1cm wide, red satin ribbon, to white glue across, horizontally, the front of the red backing sheet, 4cm up, from the lower edge. I used the same padded tape, to attach the backing sheets, to the front of the green card. I could now attach the main element, as the topper, to the backing sheets. Then, using the elements, I had cut out and kept, I used tiny padded, D.S. squares, and a step by step method, to build up the decoupage. I began with the gold peel off strips, along the edge of the inside frame. I then attached, the three gold corner scrolls, and the bow. I used the same gold glitter pen, to colour the bauble, in the centre of the bow. I attached the kittens, with the same tiny squares, starting with the tabby with the hat, then the blue, grey kitten in the corner, and lastly the silver and white kitten, which looks like, it is about to leap out of the basket, into the receiver's arms.

I slipped a length of the same red satin ribbon, under the horizontal ribbon, on the left hand side, and tied a simple bow.

A delightful finish to a beautiful card topper.

For the insert, I used Clare Walker's, Christmas Mistletoe and Berries background sheet, cup797371_7993, and cut it at, 26.5 cm x 12.5cm, and added a white paper, for the personal greeting. The extra bow, is from the second copy of the kitten topper. I added a gold peel off sentiment , and some peel off corners to make a feature around the personal greeting area.

I am so pleased with the finished product, the kittens are so realistic. A design to keep in my stash for future Christmas posting.
