BlessingsCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

This decoupage of poppies is called Blessings, and it covers so many occasions as when the card is made it is able to be used for, thinking of you, hello, sympathy, birthday , mothers’ day, Anzac Day, Remembrance Day, or a simple thank you.

Most people have a memory or two related to poppies, whether it is a happy or sad event. Personally I love them and it is one of my favourite flowers, but unfortunately they do not like the Queensland climate.

I printed the sheet provided by Gail onto CB 200gsm matte card. I made the backing sheets in gold and red and mounted them onto a black textured card.

The red backing sheet measures 13.5 x 10cm and the gold measures 12.5 x 9cm. I matted these together with D.S. tape, and then attached the largest of the poppy images using padded D.S tape.

I then added peel off strips to both the backing sheets. I used black on the gold backing sheet and gold on the red backing sheet.

I used 2 ribbons to place across the front of this set of backing sheets and topper image at the site of the sentiment.

The first ribbon is a black with tiny white spots and the top ribbon is a red with gilt edges.

I attached these together at the back of the red backing sheet with power tap.

I then attached this group of backing sheets, topper and ribbons to the main card, the front of which measures 14.5cm x 10.5cm.

I completed the pyramid style decoupage using D.S. padded tape. I made a gold foil backing for the sentiment, and tied the onestep bow, and added 2 white spot, black ribbon tails, and the card front was completed.

I used cup799631_7993, poppies Birthday, designed by Clare Walker for the insert.

The main image I attached to the left hand side and mounted the decoupage poppies onto the right hand side.

I felt this was a perfect match for this insert. Thank you Gail, for making this design available, I love it, and the resulting outcome. I am sending you a big hug. Pamela Horton.
