Red Roses Two A5 CardsCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

Tom Curtis has given us 2 red rose toppers with coffee coloured lace frames for purchase on the sheet provided.

I printed the sheet twice onto CB 120gsm white matte card, and used one copy of each print to use the main image of each one as the main backing sheet for each card.

I made these the same using the same colour combinations of backing sheet pearls coffee coloured doily and burgundy ribbon.

One of these cards is made as a Get Well card, and the other due the usable versatility is still waiting for the sentiment it may need.

I used fine small pointed scissors to cut out the lace from the inside of the frame from the second copy of each topper, being careful to not damage the main image of the rose spray and not breaking the corner of the lace frame.

To attach this to the card front that I had set aside as the main topper, I attached the tiny thin padded strips without any break in between onto the topper to cover the lace, and then carefully attached the lace frame onto these strips.

This works much better and gives a better finish than adding the padded D.S. tape to the frame itself, as it will tend to buckle slightly.

I then carefully cut out the rose spray left from this sheet and used padded D.S. tape to attach this to the front of the card.

The main card is printed on both sides with a shabby chic rose print, and cut at 21x 13cm and scored and folded before I attaching the crushed velvet look red backing sheet, using regular D.S. tape.

I used a brown permanent pen and ruler to define the outside edges of this backing sheet before attaching the 9cm coffee stained half a doily and the burgundy ribbon.

To make the edges of the ribbon look neat and not fray I have used D.S. tape and tucked the edges under.

I attached the finished topper onto a white card cut at 11.5 x 8.25cm and used the brown pen and ruler to define the edges.

These I then attached to the card front. I added the pearls around the edges before I made the insert.

I used the other half of the coffee stained doily and a strip of the crushed velvet backing sheet and added the Get Well sentiment.

This is a perfect size for posting, and Ii am extremely pleased with the result of these 2 cards that look so similar, which I have made the same and yet will help celebrate 2 different occasions.

Thank you Tom, for these 2 delightfully beautiful designs, I am sending you a virtual hug. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus. I have since used these designs as gift cards as embellishments as part of inserts for a stitching and beading card, ED221,cup1104574, a design by Emy van Schaik, and have used Pink Chantilly Lace as the backing sheet.

I have attached 2 of the photographs, 27 April 2021.
