It is so hard to find a really appropriate card for elderly males that do not involve an actual celebration, so I considered myself most fortunate when this design was offered for purchase.
My uncle is 101 years of age and although legally blind and quite deaf, is still the bright cheery man I have always known and loves receiving mail.
He needs help reading the mail, however, and always proudly displays any special greeting cards he receives even if it isn’t his birthday.
I printed the sheet provided twice as I planned to use most of the extra elements.
I used a burgundy permanent pen to define all the outside edges on the topper pieces and all the backing sheets.
I used one copy of the main element as the main backing sheet. The next backing sheet is white and measures 11.75 x 12cm and the burgundy backing sheet is 13 x 13cm.
The main black card is a linen finished card cut at 29.5 x 14, then scored and folded in half before I attached all the backing sheets using padded D.S. tape.
I attached the silver scroll peel offs and the white peel off strips next. The second copy of the main image I reduced in size by removing the outer frame, and then attached it using padded D.S. tape.
I added the Hello sentiment using white glue and the vest using D.S. padded tape. To complete the insert I added a black peel off cup of coffee onto a white background and used some of the scrolls as steam.
I wrote the verse and attached this and an extra vest plus a few more scrolls to the left hand side and lower edge and on the right hand side outer edge of the insert I have covered my personal greeting at the bottom of the verse with a strip of paper for the photographic purpose.
I am so pleased with this card and its’ universal appeal and usage. I know I will be able to use this many times. Thank you Dawn, I am sending you a virtual hug. Pamela Horton. The whispering Platypus.
