Pumpkin PatchCompleted by Stefanie Mohrmann
OccasionI started out by downsizing the design to fit a 5x5 card with a nice size edge around it.
I chose a yellow card to pick up on the autumn sunlight so prominent in the design.
Now - this is not going to be the usual "printed it, cut it, done" thing, I put quite a bit of work into this!
I printed the main design onto smooth medium card stock. This watercolour is so lively, I suddenly felt that this had to be a "shaker card" with leaves floating around!
To make that happen, I cut 8 matching frames from 270g/sqm brown/beige/orange card stock. All colours I don't usually go to when I buy a cheap mixed set. And all to give the final product a nice layered look and glued those on top of each other. Didn't know whether it would turn out the way I wanted it to, it did, but don't see it if you don't know it's there ...
Then I fussy-cut the 3D decoupage pumpkins, not fiddling with the tiny trails, the stems was as far as I went for detail.
Because I didn't want to use foam pads in case some of the shaking material would get cought I did two layers of card stock for each pumkin, glued the matching ones together and then glued them in place in the right order.
Now I adhered the layered frame to the main design.
I had some autumn multi-colour vellum I printed myself for another project and found some old paper punches for different types of foilage. There, shaker material! I punched holding the material right over the frame, saving me having to pick up teeny bits.
Next, I cut a sheet of acetate slightly smaller than the main design. Then I printed one more main design just for the top decorative frame from smooth medium, which I cut out and glued to close of the "shaker area".
For extra measure, I pinched some holes with a needle juuuuust in the corners through the acetate so some air would get in there (less static, no mould).
Once more, I didn't want a sentiment on the front. And I haven't done an insert yet, but it will certainly feature a combination of the pumpkins once again.
