Spring blue bird card frontCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

This absolutely delightful design has appeared at just the right time. My Aunt who is now 100 has become quite ill and in hospital, and just loves receiving hand made cards from me. Hence the sentiment I added for us to send.

I have kept within the grunge style, if, that is how modern terminology would describe it. The background of hessian and uneven red check pattern, I have continued, by using 3 backing sheets, a bright blue check, 9x9cm, and a textured paper in the same rusty red tones,10x10cm, plus the third in a mustard, 11x11cm. I used 2 copies of the sheet provided, and cut out the elements I wanted to use, from the second copy. they are,the pink flower, the bird is carrying, and the banner for the top.

This how I put it all together.

I made a white card 22 x11 cm and folded it in half. I then made up the topper by cutting out the main art work, and using power tape and attached the blue check, and the rusty red backing sheets. I attached the blue wide satin ribbon, 1cm in from the front, right hand edge of the mustard backing sheet and used power tape to attach this backing sheet to the rusty red backing sheet. The next backing sheet is a very pale blue, 10.75 x 10.75 cm. I attached this to the mustard backing sheet with padded double sided tape, and wrapped the ribbon over the top and under the lower edge, and attached both ends firmly at the back of the blue backing sheet.

I then attached this topper to the card front with power tape. I last of all, added the elements I had cut out, and, added a blue heart ribbon bow and typed the sentiment onto copy paper, and trimmed it to fit. All finished. All I have to do is write some comforting words on the inside. And luckily I have the left over elements to use on the inside insert.

Thank you for this delightful cheery design
