Blue Bird and PoppiesCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus
OccasionHere we have another wonderful scene, showing us some blue hibiscus flowers and pink buds, ready for this beautiful blue bird to hop right inside each flower, from the clever designer Ceredwyn. A card front for so many celebrations with Easter and Mothers’ Day both fast approaching and so many birthdays and other celebrations before the year is out, that this card has to be a must for all card makers to purchase. It was so quick easy and to simply use it as a topper and add the greeting, with the rewarding result of a stunning card. I used CB Gloss 200gsm photo copy paper to make 2 copies and I used one as the main backing sheet. I attached a 9cm doily onto the left hand side of the topper using D.S tape and then I attached 2 lengths of 2.5cm wide organza and satin ribbon that has a glitter silver trim, to attach across the back of the main topper, 1.5cm up from the bottom edge and 1cm in from the left hand edge, using D.S. tape. I attached this to the next blue backing sheet which measures 13.25cm square using padded D.S. tape squares. I then used regular D.S. tape to attach this to the pink backing sheet which measures 14cm square. I next made the main card using the Blue Daisies background sheet, designed by Clare Walker, cup50307_79993. I cut this at 29cm x 15cm, and scored and folded it. I attached a silver, glitter strip of 1.25cm wide duct tape to the lower front edge and the lower back outside edge of the blue daisies card. I then used D.S. tape to wrap the ribbon tails around out of sight. The vertical ribbon, I wrapped around, the top only, of the pink backing sheet, before attaching this completed topper to the main card front. The horizontal ribbon I wrapped around to the inside of the card front using D.S. tape to firmly attach it. I then completed the insert before finishing the decoupage on the card front. I used a pale green patterned duct tape to attach to the 4 edges of the interior of the card, and then used an 80gsm copy of the Blue Daisies Background sheet to use as the main feature of the insert. I also added a small piece of the same 9cm doily, and made a white rectangle for the verse, adding some coloured pen lines in pale green, blue and pink, and a flower left over from the decoupage, a hand drawn flower, a bow and a sentiment. To complete the decoupage, I used the second gloss copy to cut out the blue bird and almost all the top spray of flowers. I attached these using Padded D.S. squares. I then made a bow and secured it with power tape. I mounted the sentiment onto the same card as the backing sheets and made a folding card in the Blue Daisies background sheet. I punched a hole in the back half and added some ribbon to help keep the sentiment tag open. I am really thrilled with the outcome, and will be able to use this card on Friday. Thank you, Ceredwyn.
I also made 2 little gift cards and have included the photographs of these. I have almost nothing left to use from the 2 copies of the main sheet, and feel as if I have achieved 3 for the price of one.
