Beautiful Denum and RosesCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

Instead of my usual method of using several backing sheets, I have tried something a little different to give extra depth by using a different approach to the decoupage for this delightful image of roses, lace and denim.

I printed the sheet, supplied by Ceredwyn, three times and used one full image as the main backing sheet. I attached the silver ribbon across vertically 4cm up from the lower edge of the denim frame and secured the tails at the back.

I prepared a 28x14cm white card and scored and folded it.

I defined all inside and outside edges with a permanent pen in a blue denim shade and used D.S. tape to attach the main image to the card front.

I used an 11 cm paper doily to cut away and reserve this section to use as part of the insert, the very outside scallops, and attached this smaller section of the doily to the card front, using padded D.S. squares.

I used the second copy of the main image to cut away the denim frame and retained this for the last layer of decoupage for the card front.

The scallop edged image of roses in pale blue denim I then attached using D.S. tape. I then used the outer narrow denim frame to attach over the topper using D.S. long strips of D.S. narrow cut padded tape.

I made the silver ribbon bow and attached this using red power tape. I have used a double check pattern with a self-ribbon, in very pale blue, backing sheet as the insert.

To this I attached the retained outside edge of the doily and attached this to the left hand side of the insert panel and used the third image of the scalloped image to attach inside this lace looking frame and added a tiny silver ribbon bow.

I used the denim frame from this third copy of the sheet to attach to the right hand side. I have also made three different gift cards and have included photographs of 2 of them.

I am sending this completed card to a friend in Victoria, as we are unable to visit in these difficult times, I have left the verse area blank for a very short hand written letter of comfort and love.

A beautiful image which is so quickly and easily made into a quick card or one like this which gives inspiration to any crafter is an ideal choice in these stay at home times.

Thank you Ceredwyn, for offering this for purchase, I will be able to use this design many times. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
