Instead of pyramid style I chose to make as a layer card with the head shaped over a curve to give depth.

I only cut 1 layer for the dog but used 1mm foam pads at the rear and 3mm at the head to give more perspective.

I cut 1 full body layer and an extra head and bust line from the same layer as the dog (only need 3 copies and you could crop those to the bits you need if you are able) I layered the card up and fixed to a blank matt silver card leaving it plain for impact.
