This beautiful rose must have a name. It looks to me almost like the one I recognise as the Queen Elizabeth which has a perfume as sweet and pleasant as this vision and design by Terri Hawley.
I do so enjoy decoupage and step by step and this oval pyramid is no exception. I printed it onto 120gsm white CB matte photo copy paper at the recommended full size, and then cut away the original border, but keeping intact the 2 butterflies.
I then made a linen finished pale green backing sheet cut at12.5 x 8.5cm.
I used D.S. tape to attach these 2 together. I made a black backing sheet cut at 13.5 x 9.5 and attached it using padded D.S. tape. The next backing sheet cut at 14.5 x 10.5cm is deep rose pink and has a coloured crushed look finish and attached it using regular D.S. tape.
The last backing sheet is rich pink rose coloured and cut at 15 x 11.25cm and attached using regular D.S. tape.
I made the main card from a delicate pale pink and white a tiny daisy print on both sides of 120gsm card and cut it at 25 x 16.5cm then scored and folded it before attaching the completed topper.
I then cut out all the small flower elements, and using the sizing as a guide attached them using tiny thin pieces of padded double sided tape.
These thin finely cut pieces are able to be curled around the pyramid shape easily. I then completed the embellishments with strings of tiny pearls on the black backing sheet, and gold peel off tiny strings of gold butterflies.
I cut out the 2 extra butterflies provided and redrew their feelers and added purple gems to their wings. The purple bow made from 1.5 cm wide satin ribbon is tied by the rabbit ear method and attached using red power tape I am more than delighted with this outcome and know my friend will be overjoyed at receiving it.
To complete the card I used a smaller copy paper version of the completed card from the sheet supplied and using D.S tape attached it to the left hand side of the insert.
I wrote the verse, which is on the site in my gallery of free verses and you may use it if you wish, and attached it using a photo copy of the pale pink white daisy print as the sheet to print onto and attached it on the right hand side embellishing the edges with purple peel off strips.
I then used the smaller elements of the paper version of the design to make a tiny gift card. I like to make these tiny images into gift cards to bundle together to give as gifts for birthdays and Christmas to my friends and family.
I always get a thrill when I hear their responses, and then know the small effort is worth it. Than you Terri for such a beautiful design, I love it and am sending you a virtual hug. Pamela Horton. The whispering Platypus.
