They leave me up there in the loft
for forty-eight weeks of the year,
and only take me back down
when Christmas time's drawing near.
They never consider my comfort,
in that box with the spiders and dust,
next to that strange plastic Santa,
his eyes all gleaming with lust.
But come December they fetch me,
and clean off some of the mess,
they stick me on top of the tree,
a fairy light shoved up me dress.
They expect me to stand and look pretty,
with prickles from ankle to neck,
and wild little kids screaming round me,
I tell you, I feel like a wreck.
But maybe this year will be different,
if everything goes as I plan,
Santa will grant me my wishes,
and bring me my own Action Man.
Have you ever wondered what the fairy on top of the tree might be thinking? This cheeky little poem might surprise you. Pyramid card on a book-style background. The pyramid pieces line up at the tops rather than the centres.
