Christmas Lantern - Red Parol PyramidsCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

I wasn’t familiar with the description parol pyramid, so I have looked it up to now learn that it is a bamboo and paper lantern in a star shape, traditionally originated from the Philippines.

Janet has captured the translucent appearance, beautifully, using the red shading.

I printed the sheet onto the one sheet of A4 good quality white card and used one copy as the main backing sheet to attach to a soft gold textured 10.5cm square card.

I then used the second copy of the sheet to carefully cut away the red outside frame to retain to use as part of the insert.

I cut out the 5 stars that form the larger of the pyramids and using D.S. suitably sized squares and spots attached each one by size in turn, carefully matching the lines of each layer.

I set this aside while I made the main card. I used Crafty Bob’s 200gsm white matte photo paper to cut at 29x14cm, which is scored and folded before attaching the Gold metallic peel off strips to all 4 edges.

I made the next backing sheet from cup1026014_1827, Lace band card background 2, using the green and yellow background sheets in a cut and paste method to join together to form a 13cm square, the green measures 4.5 x13cm and the yellow measures 8.5 x13cm.

The next backing sheet is made from a slightly darker green 4.5cm x12cm and a slightly deeper yellow 8.5x12cm to join together and attach onto the previous backing sheet, using D.S. tape.

I then used the holly trimmed narrow 0.6 mm ribbon to cover the join and to line up with the black band on the lace, and secure at the back before attaching these backing sheets to the card front using padded D.S. tape.

I then was able to attach the completed parol star section onto the card front. I used the 2 smaller matching stars to matte together using red power tape and attach to the topper using a tiny padded D.S. square.

I left the embellishments to complete later while I completed the insert. I used the sheet in landscape position to print the verse I had chosen and trimmed the sheet to fit the 29x14cm inside of the card.

I used the retained frame to attach as a surround for the verse.

I used a full size version of the parol to print and cut out the elements of the bells with red bows and the berries and leaves to use on the insert and the topper.

I also used spell binders cut out stars and a gold coloured star paper clip as embellishments. I attached the ribbon bow I have made using red power tape and the sentiment which is backed using the same soft gold textured card and attached using thick padded D.S. tape.

I have used a small image of the completed card front as an extra embellishment on the left hand side of the insert.

I really enjoyed putting this project together, thank you Janet for offering this delightful image for purchase. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus
