I really enjoy the step by step method of decoupage and this stunning Christmas design, by Nick Bowley, is so easy and quick to assemble I printed the sheet supplied twice onto the one A4 sheet and made 2 similar cards, using different backing sheets and different techniques to add embellishments.

I have used a bright red 4”x 6” card, a lime green backing sheet, a black backing sheet and silver and red glitter glue for embellishments on the first card.

On the second burgundy coloured 4”x 6” card I have us a satin finished silver backing sheet and a dark bright green backing sheet, and attached the main element using D.S. tape.

To add the embellishments to this burgundy card, I have used clear liquid glue around the oval to attach silver flower soft and 3mm wide red power tape on the frame to attach the silver flower soft, and the clear sparkle glitter glue and red flower soft for the red bell ball and the bow.

I have also used a different style of sentiments for each card. I completed the card front, attaching the backing sheets using D.S. tape, before attaching the decoupage elements.

When I was attaching the bells I warmed each of the pieces in my hand and curved each one over my index finger and then attached the padded tape only along the centre vertical line of each element, so that it gave the dimensional look I wanted to achieve.

I completed the insert in the same manner for each of the cards by printing the verse, I have chosen from the free verse Christmas for friends section, centrally onto an A4 sheet in the landscape position and this has given me the ability to trim the right hand side and bottom edge of the sheet to make a perfect fit for this size card.

I have added a silver peel of sentiment, some holly and some red peel off notions. I am thrilled with the outcome of both these projects and will use this design many more times. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
