Male Card Wise Owl MinI KitCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

have made this card design, by Marijke Kok, as a male card using the tones from the original image. I have printed each of the main sheets twice onto 170gsm satin finished white card, and the insert sheet onto 80gsm white copy paper.

I have made the main card by printing the soft burgundy quilted look backing paper onto both sides of 170gsm white satin finished card and trimmed it down to measure 26.5cm wide and 13 cm high.

I printed the copy of the insert, onto an A4 sheet by placing the 2 copies side by side leaving a gap in the centre and the outside measurements to fit within a 26x12cm frame.

I then used a black marker to make the border.

I printed this finished sheet to keep as a copy for future male themed cards and used a glue runner tape to adhere this insert into the inside of the card.

I have used a cream backing sheet cut at 11cm square and defined the edges with a fine black line and topped this with a black 10cm square backing sheet which I have defined the edges with a matte gold fine line pen.

I have used padded D.S. tape behind the cream backing sheet to give more depth to the completed finished image.

I have cut out all the elements and used the smaller pieces to make and complete the decoupage, saving some of the second copied elements to use to add as embellishments to the insert.

I have used padded D.S. tape to attach the decoupage pieces.

I have added gold fine line peel off strips to the burgundy backing sheet and to give the effect of stitched black and white edging, I have used white peel off tiny scallop shaped strips and a permanent black pen.

The indent of the scallop shapes made it easy to make the stitched look even. I have added a blank sentiment shape from the sheet provided to apply a gold birthday sentiment and added the gold chain peel off to complete the look.

I have added the verse to the insert and used a spare insert copy to cut out and attached the frame section and the books as extra embellishments.

I have left the left centre section of the insert blank for my own personal message. The detail in the image, created by Marikje, has given this card a very professional look. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
