MERMAID MINI KIT-7 by 7 inch Decoupage and insert Mermaid Fantasy Kit, with Decoupage & Commercial UseCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

This, is an adorable representation, in ink and water colour, by Clare Walker, of imaginative sea life. The colours are so cooling, and the water texture seems alive with movement. I used, all the available sheets, from the kit, and many of the elements, from those sheets, and I still, have some left over, to enhance other cards.

I used the size, 21.99cm x 15.99 cm, to print out the sheets supplied, onto 200gsm white card.

I used one main image, which measures,13 cm. square, of the complete topper, as a background sheet, and backed it using D.S tape, with a sea green card, cut at 14cm. square. I used silver and black, decorative peel off strips, to colour with a green, permanent pen, and attached these, close to the edges of the main topper.

I then used, regular D.S. tape, in small lengths, to place along the areas, where the sand is depicted, but, at this point, did not peel the backing strips off. Instead, I set it aside, while I prepared the flower soft mix. To do this, I used, 2 different shades, of flower soft, silver glitter, and ivory, to mix together. I took a good pinch of both shades, and placed them, on a white A4 sheet, that, I had prepared and folded with a valley fold. I then, used my fingers, to rub the flower soft loose, and to mix them together. I then began, to peel off the backing sheets, from the D.S. tape, a piece at a time, sprinkling the flower soft mix, on top. I continued peeling off the backing strips, and holding the work, with one hand, over the white paper, while sprinkling, the flower soft mix, with the free hand. When I had completed this, I shook, the left over flower soft, into the valley fold, and then pressed the topper edges, upside down, onto, the remaining flower soft, one edge at a time. I had practically nothing left in the valley fold, so I was able to shake the tiny scraps off to discard these remnants. I then, sat the card topper flat, on a firm surface, and, pressed gently, with the white paper, to make sure all the flower soft, was secure.

I then, took a second copy, of the main topper, and cut away, and discarded, the sandy, spotty frame, which then left the image measuring, 10 x 10.5cm. I backed it, using D.S. tape, with a piece of scrap light card, exactly the same size, and then used padded tape, to attach it, to the topper front. I used the elements, to complete the decoupage, including an extra star fish, and a little fish, using, small squares of padded D.S. tape, to attach them in place..

I used a spare image, to cut out some sea weed, to use, and entwine around the turtle, the extra little fish, and also the mermaid's tail.

I then used, a sea green card, to cut at, 31cm. x 15cm., and folded it, to form the main card. I made a larger copy,15.5cm. x 15cm., of the insert sheet part of the kit, and matted it, to the folded card front, using regular D.S tape. I attached, the completed topper, to the front of the main sea green card, with padded D.S tape.

I then used, 2 different sized copies, of the insert sheet, to attach to the inside of the card, with regular D.S. tape. I used some elements from cup792133_79993, labelled, Fish, Octopus, Corals and Starfish A4 Sea Background, which is also designed by Clare Walker, and one of the green turtle elements, to attach with spots of white glue. I have left the right hand side blank, for my personal greeting.

Oh thank you, so much Clare, it has made a beautiful result.

A Big Hug.
