It took me 2 afternoons of crafting enjoyment to make this set of baby celebration pieces. I printed all of the sheets provided at the original A4 size, onto170gsm white satin finished photo paper. The multitude of elements provided, gave me lots of options for making the finished items.
I made the 2 envelopes first to check the sizing for the insertion of the book and the card. I needed to repeat the back of the envelope once more and the front, a further twice more. I used UHU liquid glue to assemble the first envelope, using 2 fronts, back-to-back and one of the envelope backs, and allowed this to dry.
The second envelope I used red, 7mm wide power tape, cut in short lengths to make the taped edges easier to manage when sticking the overlapping edges together.
Both envelopes will stand up. I then made the book, one page at a time. I backed each page by using the glue to adhere a large copy paper print of the blue star pattern in A4 size, then cut down to fit exactly.
I embellished each side of each page using some of the elements from the sheets provided using a combination of D.S tape, glue stick and wet glue.
I used 7mm wide red power tape strips, avoiding the area marked for the holes to adhere the folded binding, then pierced the holes and attached 3 different coloured metallic floral brads.
For child safety, I attached a 2.5cmx14cm strip of the star print onto the back binding to cover the back of the brads, using the red power tape.
I then used some of the elements to embellish using the elements to decoupage both envelopes back and font. To make the card, I used the envelope back to enlarge to a full A4, using the 170gsm photo paper and printed the design onto both sides.
I cut this to measure 28.75x17.5cm and attached the brown, cup1118778_2048, N02, a very useful set of Textured papers VII Nautical colours, a design by, Sandra Auzina, which I have cut to measure, 16.75X13.25cm.
I made an exact blue matching, 15x13cm, backing sheet and cut out and measured the position of each of the elements, I have chosen to use, and designed the completed decoupage before attaching this to the card front.
I cut the textured grey oval to flatten at the bottom and using wet glue attached the lace to appear as the fringed edging for this grey rug.
I then built up the decoupage with the layers to good effect to ensure definition, using D.S. padded tape. I attached some coloured peel offs and the royal blue linear strips. To complete the insert, I printed the verse, I have chosen, and the fun message.
I enlarged one of the framed verses from the sheet and removed this frame to use, the frame only, over the verse, I have printed in blue.
Thank you, Karen Heavyside, for this beautiful baby boy card with so many elements, to enable this design to be used for many baby birthdays to come, Pamela Horton.
