I've made this card for my Grand daughter's 18th birthday. I trimmed white card to make an 8x8 square card with just a narrow fold. One piece of backing paper was matted onto black mirri, and a narrower piece of a different backing paper also matted onto black mirri. The larger piece was put onto the card offset to the right hand side. Onto that I put the scrapbook image, matted onto silver mirri. The narrow strip was attached to the narrow fold. I cut a pice of heavy acetate the same size as the card and attached it under the narrow fold. I finished off with 4 silver corner peel offs and narrow borders to edge the acetate. A sentiment will be added later.
I found it difficult to photograph the acetate, so apologies for the photo not being quite as sharp as it should have been.
I printed the design onto quality photo paper, cut out the pieces and chose the elements I wanted for this particular card. (There are many choices of backgrounds and size of image.) Onto a black square card I attached the background and then matted the two images on angles, partially overlapping each other.
I put the smaller image on foam pads. I cut a quarter from a black paper doiley and added it on foam pads to a bottom corner, attaching a toothpick flag under it.
On the flag I added gold peel-off letters and black faux gems.
On top of the doiley I also attached a small black and gold bow. In the top corner I attached an organdy and netting flower with faux pearl strands cascading from it. To finish I used a gold peel-off border all around. This design can be used in so many different ways; there is a wealth of material to choose from.
The timeless appeal of black and white makes it versatile in the possible use of the backgrounds with completely different images as well.
