paper card stock

You can try wood or clay, or even metal if you want, I haven't, but if you decide to, I would take the bendable, easel strut leg patterns and make a fabric or felt template, sandwiched behind or between 2 layers of the strut leg, so that it bends.

Oh, and the 2 smallest frame sizes convert to a brooch, costume jewelry lapel pin button badge, with removable metal bar style brooch pin back 1 1/4" long! These are tabletop, standing OR wall hanging, with 2 holes on the easel back hole punched, and bendable, strut legs! You can also run a ribbon through the hole on the back and hang them on the wall.

You want an easy way to display your photo, and possibly special fabric, or even cover paper boards with ...paper! Well, here is a way to achieve that!

Teens, and older children / tweens, with adult supervision, can make these frames. If your child can use an iron, cut fabric, use pointy embroidery scissors, cut with a utility knife, you can use sharp paper scissors, as the mat board will cut with scissors, or try a paper trimmer, mine works to cut through mat board if the piece is small enough, & use a low temp hot glue gun, then this may be worth trying - with a grown up next to them, of course.

You can hot glue then double staple the strut leg to the easel back board on both sides, then cover them with fabric and Ultrahold adhesive (patterns provided). You can also use Velcro or hook & loop to attach the top of the strut leg to the easel back, the whole strut leg can be removable, is you use hook & loop at the top part of the strut leg to the easel back, as well as the ribbon tail that extends from the bottom right corner of the easel back, that allows for the strut leg to pitch out and stay in place, for the frame to stand on a table or shelf. frame patterns, for printable Ultrahold & board patterns, for photo sizes:

* 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" - 2 3/4" x 3 1/2" oa size - 3/4" frame front surrounding picture window 1 1/4" x 2"

* 2x3" Instant print photos - 3x4" oa size - 3/4" frame front surrounding picture window 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" - frame covers 1/4" edge of photo - photos printed by Instax and Polaroid cameras, Prynt and HP Sprocket smartphone device photo printers

* 5x7" - 2 sizes - 6 3/4" x 8 3/4" & 8x10" - 1" frame front with 4 3/4" x 6 3/4" picture window, & 1 3/4" frame front surrounding 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" picture window

_____________________ In how I came about inventing these frames, I found that the fabric photo frames out on the market were not working. The opening was too small for the photo to slide in and out, let alone having your fingers try to pull the photo out, and the turn buttons would break off. I know this because I had worked in the stationery department of our local department store. Also, the mass manufactured ones had fraying inside corners where the photo showed through, just not professional, not finished. I use a little glue, or hot glue and my finger to dab a bit in those corners and pull from front and under to the back, to keep them from fraying, but my customers can use glue and water combo, decoupage, and a cheap, tiny paint brush, if they want. While watching Carol Duvall on HGTV, back in 2000, I believed that I could improve the design of the fabric photo frame So, I came up with a structure that covered mat board parts (I first used illustration board, but that was too tough to cut through, and mat board was easier to cut), and had a machine to connect the strut with the back, but as time went on, by 2006, I had come up with a pattern and structure to make them so that I didn't need a special machine and metal parts, and everything could be bought in a craft store! So, I ditched my easel hinge and hanger press ( the $16 screw broke on the arm of it), and came up with this structure invention for the fabric covered mat board photo frames. Follow the video tutorial instructions on Youtube at http://youtube.com/user/fabricatedframesCom and the photo & text step by step tutorial on http://fabricatedframes.blogspot.com with links to buy the materials & supplies. The download has all 4 mat board part patterns, in white, with the fabric seam allowances surrounding the white mat board part patterns in gray, plus lines marked to cut the excess fabric away, lines to cut away the center strip of mat board to separate the top and bottom of the strut leg board. Another special feature for both frames for the 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" and 2x3" photos, is that they are tabletop frames, with removable fabric covered strut leg boards, attached with ribbon and velcro / hook & loop, to reveal 2 vertical holes, for a bar metal pin back to stay in place, that slides out, to make it a jewelry brooch fashion pin accessory! So, buy a 1 yard length of 3/4" wide velcro, sew on or sticky back. For covering staples, use a button or other embellishment hot glued. All you need is: -fabric -mat board or cardboard 1/16" thick, to make 4 parts of the frame, to cover with fabric, front and back -a length of ribbon for each frame size, 9" long, width depending on size of frame, from 3/8" wide to 1 1/2" wide -50 page pack of acid free, clear, sheet protector pages for protective photo sleeves, cut to size of photo - your choice of adhesives from Therm o Web HeatnBond: The patterns can be printed onto their Ultrahold fabric adhesive, that is paper backed, and can be printed on using your inkjet printer. Just cut up to 32 8 1/2" x 11" pieces from a 5 yard roll, and run through your printer, cut away excess, leaving seam allowances printed, and iron to fabric, or you can iron it to the board. You'll need 2 five yard rolls for all of the frames in this download. Or, you can use Therm o Web's Fabric Fuse, sold in sheets, as a tape, or now in a point and shoot bottle with nozzle to aim fast drying liquid. - 100 pack of low temp hot glue sticks and low temp glue gun ALL of the supplies, materials, & tools can be bought at a fabric, quilt, art supply, or craft store - some at the office supply store - stores like JoAnn Fabric, Michaels, AC Moore, Hancock Fabrics, Staples, Lowes, Home Depot, even Walmart & Target! Make sure that you use store coupons and sales to save money! Thank you!
