I have made 2 different toned Birthday greeting cards for Male friends using this design by Diana Hutchinson and have plans for a further use of this design.

I printed the design once for each separate card onto 170gsm satin finished photo paper.

The cards are both made in easel standing style, which has given the pop-up golfer image the prominent position. I followed the directions from the sheet provided and cut out all the images, then using a scoring tool scored the dotted lines and both horizontal lines.

The dotted lines I then folded firmly as valley folds.

I opened the full image and folded each of the horizontal lines in turn by firmly creasing each one in turn as mountain folds.

These folds then determined how the diamond image was easily formed. I used D.S. red power tape in the position marked glue, and attached this section and attached this firmly in position.

I also attached the same red power tape onto the back of the blue triangles closest to the position marked glue.

To make the first card in the photographs, I have used the backing sheet number 1, from the set designed by Debra Laraway, cup1028301_1571, The Great Outdoors, Double Stripes, to print onto both sides of A4, white 170gsm, satin finished photo paper and cut this to measure 28x14cm.

Before attaching the golf diamond image to the card front, I scored and folded the striped main card and used gold fine line peel off strips to the outside edges of the card front, the 2 side edges of the watermark blue section and the 4 sides of the diamond shaped main image.

I then used D.S. tape to attach the folded topper onto the card front, 1cm up from the lower edge and added the decorative front peel off strip close to the lower edge of the fold of the topper.

I stood this up in the easel position and lightly pencil marked the position for the gold peel off sentiment and attached it.

I completed the insert before adding the decoupage embellishment to the card front.

I have used the pale blue insert 24 x28cm to attach a copy of a previously purchased decorative frame and my greeting which I have backed using the same backing paper onto the top section of the open insert.

I have made a frame, using narrow strips from the same backing paper, to place around the verse and to attach to the lower section of the open insert.

I complete the decoupage using cut to size sections of padded D.S. tape.

I left the golf club swinging loose for more effect. This card when closed fits beautifully into an envelope 5½” square.

I have used the seme technique to make the second card topper and the main card, using blue peel off strips as part of the embellishments and number 7 from the set, cup283010_1571 for the decorative finished background to print onto both sides of the main card.

I have used a soft lime green backing sheet to make the 28x14cm insert, which has the verse printed onto the lower section and the frame which I have made to attach to the top section of the insert and coloured some peel off golf items which I have also attached.

I have used vertical wording for the sentiment and number 80 to colour and attach to lime green and striped backing sheets before attaching them.

The decoupage I completed using padded D.S tapes as above for the first card.

Two male oriented themed greetings which look quite different were so quick and easy to make when finding just the right card for that very special somebody seemed beyond my reach happened to pop up at the right moment.

Thank you, Diana, I love this design. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
