Valentines & Romance / Valentines Day

I remember receiving cards just like this. I am very lucky to be able to recall the memories of the very first greeting cards I received from my birth until my 8th birthday, as they were so lovingly in a scrap book by my darling Mother. They are well fingered and were read through on each and every birthday. This image is probably a Victorian era design. I printed the sheet supplied by, Apetroae, twice onto 200gsm white card, making the image measure, 17.5 x 12cm. The first copy of the image, I used as the main background sheet. I made a backing sheet print of a previous purchase, cup808597_117, onto a pink 200gsm card of the lilac version. This backing sheet measures, 18.5 x 13cm. I used a length of 2.5cm wide deep rose pink ribbon to attach across the front, 2.5cm up from the bottom of the backing sheet, and then I attached the main element to this, using padded D.S. tape. I made a white card which measures, 28 x 19cm. Before I scored and folded this card, I used a deep rose coloured pen to colour the edges of the card. I then coloured some gold peel offs with the same deep rose coloured pen, and attached them to the white card front. I used the deep rose coloured pen. I used some of the backing sheet to cut out a heart 3mm wider all round, than the heart shaped sentiment. I attached them together, in a slightly skewed manner, using D.S. tape, and onto the card front with the same tape. I coloured some tiny gold stars in pink, and attached them to the sentiment and also to the sky. I used part of the blue heart flowers, the pink scarf, the top sleeve, and the face, arms and head of the left hand cherub, to attach using tiny padded squares. I cut out some of the blond boy cherub, to attach in the same manner. I used his right arm and wing as a single unit to attach, then the left wing, and shoulder and his head. I cut out the cherub, squatting in the front of the image, and part of the trailing robe. I attached the simple bow I had made, using the same ribbon, to the left hand side. For the insert, I used a rose embossed pink backing sheet, and added some peel off sentiments, and a white, rose trimmed page on the right hand side for the personal greeting. This is a card to melt anyone’s heart. I love it.
