Valentine HeartsCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

Occasion
Valentines & Romance / Valentines Day

I haven’t purchased any designs by Lizzie before and thank you for this lovely Valentine image. I have made 2 cards from this design. The first I have made for my own man of the house and the second to my daughter whose man doesn’t believe, as we do, in celebrating every happy occasion. I am so delighted with how well they both have a different appeal. I have not written a verse as the sentiment and my personal message will suffice. To make the blue, green themed card I have used a cream matte 200gsm card cut at 27.5 x14.75cm then score and folded it before attaching the topper. To make the topper I have used the same cream card cut at 13.75cm high x13cm wide and defied the edges using a permanent black pen and ruler. To this using D.S. tape, I have attached the 2 toned dark blue12 x 6.5cm backing sheet and lime green 13 x 6.5cm backing sheets, which I have secured at the back using D.S. tape and defined the edges with the same black pen. I then used the sheet provided to print the images twice onto the same 170gsm white satin finished photo paper. I used the main 10cm square image, which has the edges defined with a lime green fine line permanent pen, as the main backing sheet and attached this to a black 11cm wide x10.5cm high backing sheet, using D.S. tape. I then used the green and cream fine lie stiped1.5cm wide ribbon to attach to the front of the topper,4cm up from the lower edge of the black backing sheet, using a glue tape roller across the centre placement section only. Before securing this ribbon at the back I attached this section of the topper to the 2 previously prepared backing sheets and wrapped the ribbon tails at the back of the cream backing sheet, using D.S. tape. I cut out the smaller heart pairs and silhouette of the loving couple. I attached this image using padded D.S. tape to the card front. I have used brightly matching coloured tiny flower gems, 4 tiny red hearts and 2 black glitter buttons as extra embellishments to attach using tiny spots of white glue and set this topper aside, to dry thoroughly, while I prepared the insert. I have used a soft green petal look paper to attach 2 of the original main images and placed a soft white opaque vellum over the top before photocopying and printing this at27.5 x 14.75 and attaching it into the centre of the card. I then used 2 copies of the silhouette couple to cut and paste the red part of the image to make the heart appear as a single heart. I have left the right side of the insert blank for me to add my special message.

To make the pink themed card, I have used a pink tiny white spot backing sheet to print onto both sides of 170gsm card, then cut, scored and folded it to finish at 25x14cm. I have defined the edges of the front section of the card with a rose, pink permanent pen. I have attached the insert before completing the topper, using the same vellum technique, as above and, a pink spot backing sheet. I have defined the edges of the main image of the sheet provided using the same pink pen and attached the 0.75cm wide strip of the pink, white spot backing sheet, 4.5cm down from the top edge of the main image, using D.S. tape. and define the edges using the same pink pen, the 2 toned, 12 cm high x 11 cm wide, light and dark pink backing sheet. The next backing sheet is a pale pink version of Clare Walker’s design, Christmas Lace effect, cup814313_79993 which I have cut at 11.5 wide x 13cm high and defined the edges before attaching the topper section. I have made the bow using the centre section of 25cm length of grosgrain 1.5cm wide pink ribbon and to make the tails, I have used an extra 12cm length to feed through the back of the bow. I have wrapped the ribbon around the lower section of the lace effect backing sheet and secured the ends at the back. I was then able to attach the topper onto the pink spot backing sheet using padded D.S. tape and then onto the card front using padded D.S. tape. I have used 4 tiny pale pink and 1 rose pink heart gems, I have used pale matching flower gems and 3 bright blue flower gems to attach using spots of white glue as extra embellishments to the card front. I have made 2 cards with totally different outcomes from a delightfully beautiful sentimental image. Pamela Horton. The whispering Platypus.
