Brighton BelleCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

Occasion
Birthday / Birthday Female

This is a glamourous lady at the beach in her finest gown. This is an Elizabethan gown with a beautiful lace and satin kirtle, and a high square necked lace bodice, typical pf the gowns worn to the Elizabethan court to show off the ladies tiny waist.

We admire these gowns and the ladies of fashion who wore them, and the discomfort they must have felt being so trussed up.

I made 3 copies of the sheet provided and used one as the main backing sheet, and the other to cut out the main central image and the third to cut out some smaller elements for extra decoupage and the insert.

The main backing sheet image has a burgundy 2.5cm wide satin ribbon across horizontally 1.25 cm down from the top edge and then used D.S. tape to attach it to a black backing sheet cut at 12.25 x 8cm.

I made a burgundy red backing sheet cut at 13x 8.75cm and attached the black backing sheet using D.S. tape.

I then wrapped the ribbon around to the back and secured it before attaching this to the main ivory coloured card front which measures 14cm x 10cm using padded D.S. tape.

The smaller main image I edged with a wink of Stella brush in gold before attaching it using padded D.S. tape.

I added the sentiment and the burgundy gems. And a red jewel at the ladies neck.

I made a bow using the rabbit ear method and attached it using red power tape. I completed the insert with the third image and added a marbled finished page for the verse. A delightful out come from a beautiful elegant design. I love it. Thank you Eliza Brown, I am sending you a virtual hug. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
