Growing Old DisgracefullyCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

Occasion
Birthday / Birthday Age Cards 51-60

I didn’t need to look any further to find a perfect 60th. Birthday greeting for my special female friend, and I found this lovely step by step very easy and quick to complete design a pleasure to put together.

I mounted the main element onto an 11.25x 8.25cm sky blue card using D.S. tape and then onto a 11.75 x 8.5cm white matte card using padded D.S. tape.

I then used a purple pen to smudge half a 9cm paper doily and attach it to the top left hand corner using D.S. tape before attaching this work in progress to a 12.5 x 10cm purple gloss backing sheet using D.S. tape.

I wrapped the ribbon across the front 5.5cm up from the lower edge of the gloss purple backing sheet and secured it at the back with red power tape.

I made the main card using a white matte 180gsm white card cut at 21 x 14cm and scored and folded it before attaching the topper to the card front 0.5cm up from the lower edge, and attached the bow with the tails across the very top of the white card front attaching it using D.S. tape.

I used my purple pen and index finger to smudge all the outside edges with a light touch of purple and for at least 2cm on the inside edges of the card.

I then cut out all the elements and used padded tiny squares to complete the step by step decoupage. I noticed that one of the smaller upper body pieces faces the wrong way, but this was not needed to be able to achieve the result as shown.

To complete the insert, I have used a previous purchase, cup406974_874, Champagne Wishes and Violets, and insert design by Diane Hannah, which I have enlarged slightly and changed the hue to be slightly more into the mauve range.

I have added a bright gold peel off happy Birthday, a 60, 2 stars and a butterfly. I have made this butterfly in 2 layers, using card and vellum. This is from a previous purchase, cup900092_1763, Art Nouveau Bright Butterflies, Sheet 2, a design by Anne lever.

I haven’t as yet attached the verse or my personal greeting. I am more than delighted with the total outcome of this card. Thank You Anne, I am sending you a virtual hug. Pamela Horton. The whispering Platypus
