This delightfully fresh Spring image of a blue bird and pink blossoms will suit most occasions including Easter, Mother’s Day, Birthday and even for a cheery just wanting to say hello.

I have used the design as a birthday card today and printed the sheet provided three times onto 170gsm satin finished white card at 12.7 x17.97cm.

I used the main image from one copy as the main backing sheet for the decoupage and cut away the outer frame from the second image to use as part of the insert, keeping the inner smaller blue framed image as now the central focal image.

I defined the edges of both images with a matching blue permanent pen and set them aside while I made the base card.

I used a design by Clare Walker, cup814313_79993, Christmas lace effect, in a blue hue to print onto 170gsm white satin finished card, I cut it down to 14.5x11.5cm.

I cut a deep blue 24x15cm, satin finished card then scored and folded it before using D.S. to attach the lace effect backing sheet.

I set this aside while I made the next 2 backing sheets for the topper, the deep rose pink cut at 10x13cm, the matching plain deep blue, 11x14cm and using D.S. tape attached these 2 backing sheets together with the main image from the sheet provided.

I wrapped the deep, rose, pink ribbon horizontally across 5cm up from the lower edge of the deep blue backing sheet before attaching this section of the topper to the prepared card front using red power tape.

I cut out the smaller elements of the blue bird, butterflies and tiny flowers to add to the card front and used tiny pearls as extra embellishments.

The same lace effect sheet I have printed onto both sides of copy paper to use as the insert.

I have made an insert to be used with future suitable female cards using the same them as the finished card.

To do this, I have used the extra retained frame to attach a white backing sheet and drew and coloured the twigs and leaves and attached the tiny flowers, I reprinted the completed insert in A4, landscape with the framed verse I have chosen and the framed twigs, leaves and flower images and printed the lace effect paper onto the back of the sheet.

Before attaching this to the inside pf the card, I copied this and cut it down to size to fit to the inside of the card.

To finish the card front I have made a matching rose pink bow and attached it using red power tape.

I attached a blank white sheet to the inside back cover of the completed card for my special hand written message.
