Birthday Butterfly

This is the second butterfly birthday card I have made this week, and this one is even more beautiful than the first one, because I was able to use a Crafty Bob scallop edged, 15x10.5cm card front, I had purchased previously, which helps give the finished project that point of difference.

I have edged the card with silver Mod podge and blue glitter glue before attaching the 14x10cm rose pink backing sheet which has the edges defined with a royal blue permanent pen and the same blue glitter glue brushed along the edges.

The next backing sheet is a black card cut at, 13x9.5cm. I have attached the card front to this using D.S. tape and then attached the royal blue peel off strips to the edges of the original topper.

I have attached the ribbon across horizontally, 4cm down, from the top edge of the black backing sheet and secured the tails at the back.

I had printed the sheet provided twice on to the same A4 white light card and have used the second copy to decoupage the lower stems, flowers and the 2 butterflies, which I cut out carefully as one piece.

I used my glue runner tape to attach this to the card front and allowed one of the stems to sit slightly below the royal blue peel off strip and the blue spotty ribbon to be visible through the image and attached a tiny bow using red power tape.

I used all the butterflies the 2 images then provided. I reserved one small butterfly image for the insert. I have attached padded D.S. tape cut to suit the size needed.

I coloured the edges of this D.S. tape with the same royal blue pen to avoid the white edges spoiling the over- all effect and I also edged all the butterfly edges from the wrong side for the same reason.

I have used the silver mod podge and the same blue glitter glue on the surface of the butterflies and allowed this to dry completely before cutting the top 2 wings of the larger butterfly to separate them and then bending the wings to give more dimension and attaching them with D.S. tape.

I have made the insert, using a muted blue tone of a butterfly background and added the verse, which I have chosen from, cup858689_79993, Butterfly bush insert, a design by Clare Walker.

To this I added the one smaller butterfly.

It has made a greeting card to be cherished by a loved one, thank you Kathleen, I love your designs.
