WEDDING ANNIVERSARY - NOT SO GOOD FOR THE HIPS

But absolutely delicious on the tongue ! We celebrated our wedding anniversary last Friday, and spent a wonderful weekend. My husband took me to dinner on Saturday to a fabulous restaurant.

This was just one of 3 desserts that arrived and the chef had personalized this for us, although my husband had not asked for anything special.

The restaurant had heard his pleas for an anniversary table and decided to make it special for us.

On Sunday he invited me for a tete a tete lunch at home, but when he allowed me to come downstairs I discovered close friends who had crept into the house to celebrate the moment with us.

As we battle cancer, making such special memories are so necessary and I just hope that we will make many, many more.

Old Photos

My older sister celebrated her birthday recently. Although we are only 15 months apart, she has always been the responsible one, while I was the mischievous younger sibling.

As I was creating a Birthday collage for her, I came across some old pictures of us together.

One of the pictures was taken when we were toddlers, sitting on our nans back doorstep. We all lived with our nan while our parents worked hard to save money to buy their first house and move us from the East End of London to a small village in the countryside.

These are some lovely memories.

Finally!

Hubbys son and his family live in Townsville in North Queensland. When we left up there our son Jamie hadnt met his future wife.

A few years after splitting with his previous partner with whom he had a son who will be 16 next month, he met a wonderful girl who after a couple of years became his fiance.

They have two children together, Bella whos 6 and Clay whos 4. Although Hubby has met Chiquita I havent had the pleasure until yesterday.

Her and her Dad had to come down to Brisbane for a medical appointment and we decided to meet up for lunch before they flew home today.

So finally I got to meet our (future) daughter in law. She will have to come back down in a couple of months so we definately will have to catch up again.

Neither hubby nor I have met their two children yet but distance is an obstacle but we do chatter to them on the phone.

We have done video calls which is great but nothing like one day being able to meet them face to face.

That is something that we are hoping to do before the end of the year.

Weve bought her lots of crafty stash of her own and she has also some how managed to relieve me of more than a few items from my crafty stash too! lol But this week she customised her phone case with a character from one of the shows she loves to watch.

I dont know what you think but Im really really impressed and proud of her!

Look At Him Go!

We took our son to Mayfield Park in Manchester this weekend which is his favourite play park. Hes only two, and a lot of the equipment is for kids way older than him but its cleverly made so that he cant climb up… or so we thought.

We turned our backs for a few seconds and he was gone. After a few terrifying second we spotted him. Hed only managed to climb up one of the big towers for the big kids!

Fair play to him, he made it right to the top but didnt have the guts to come down the big slide - thank goodness, I dont think my nerves could take it instead, he climbed down a level and took the short slide… into mummys arms - phew!

A WEDDING ANNIVERSARY - MINE

Its today ... the date CUP publishes its community news and Ive decided to share my joy as we celebrate our 12th Wedding Anniversary.

You know that old adage ... if at first you dont succeed ... well he is my try and try again and I have never been happier.

Thank the Lord I am thinner now than I was when I got married so I look a bit of a fright but what a gorgeous hat thing I wore.

As we fight cancer, things like anniversaries are so important as we are making as many wonderful memories as we can.

Well actually be celebrating on Satuday and Sunday but I think I have a lovely card for him somewhere. Have a lovely week.

How Cool

My son and his family are enjoying their big adventure on the east coast of the US. One stop was Miami where they visited NASA.

Photo of my grandson is taken there with him in front of a launch pad, not sure if its just for people to look at, which I suspect it is, because I cant imagine theyd allow them near the real thing.

Still how cool would it be to stand so close to something like this. They only had a couple of days there and werent at NASA to see a proper launch but they did see a launch the following night when they were having dinner (insert photo).

He sent a couple of videos of it as even from kilometers away it was still able to be seen.

Theyve since left Miami and headed off to Baltimore and onto New York, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Going to see Niagara Falls, Buffalo, back to New York, Philadelphia, Los Angles and fly home.

What a fantastic holiday!

Beauty And The Beast

Wow, I had a fantastic evening last Friday! I met up with my daughter to watch Jessica and Imogen perform in their school production of Beauty and the Beast.

It was a brilliant performance, and every child did an amazing job, but I am particularly proud of our girls.

Immy acted and sang her heart out as one of the Bimbettes, and Jess played the role of Mrs Potts perfectly.

She received a loud cheer when she took her bow, and her singing was absolutely beautiful. Her solo got a big round of applause, and both their nannies and their mum were in tears. Well done to our little stars!

Unfortunately, cameras were not allowed, so I only have a picture of the programme and a small headshot of the girls from an official photo shoot of the whole cast.

Look out for some pretty Mothers Day designs that I am uploading today, in time for Mothering Sunday.

My ...

... youngest granddaughter, Olivia, was running again in a cross country race last weekend. This time she decided she wanted to go with her friend and family. She really is getting independent at just 11!

Even when we go with her shes very good at getting everything done herself, from warming up to making sure of the route the race takes and makes sure shes at the starting line in plenty of time!!

Unfortunately it was a really really muddy course with over 200 competitors ... and in the crowded start to the race she had another girl stand on her foot just after the starting gun!!

They all wear spikes so it was extremely painful!

But bless her she still soldiered on and took 46th place!! To say that were all proud of her is an understatement! I dont think Id have carried on running at all in the circumstances!!

I …..

…. went with my youngest son, Paul and his two children to Ruddington Country Park. It was a lovely day with lots of sunshine. We went to see and cheer on my youngest granddaughter, Olivia, as she ran in the Cross Country race being held there.

Shes recently gone up a group and was one of the youngest running in the race but she still did really well!

Out of loads of starters she came 5th … she very nearly got 3rd but was overtaken in the last few yards.

We are all soooo proud of her!

Lunch Time!

Ill be happy to help you with that. Heres the corrected text:I am the mad dog lady in this house. I have a song for everything, and the boys seem to love it. Mid-morning, they always have a carrot, and I sing the Carrot Time song.

At mid-day, its time for the Lunch Bickies song. I also have a song for Dinny, Dinny, Doos, which, of course, is dinner time. It certainly gets them running, but maybe its the food that does that? Here are Billy and Sam sitting beautifully for their lunch bickies.

I love these boys so much; they are such good fun. This week, I have added some beautiful new Princess toppers with decoupage, and a few more to my series for little boys and girls birthdays.

I hope you like them.

Hidey Hidey

The other day we couldnt find the grand daughters cat. Narla often hides in cupboards (she can open the sliding doors), or on one of the kitchen chairs, but we tend to be able to find her pretty quickly.

But this particular day we checked every cupboard, in every room and simply couldnt find her. Thought she might be hiding under the fluffy blanket on the end of the bed as that is another favourite place and you can only tell shes there because there is the slightest bump on the bed.

No hope if the blanket isnt spread out and just in a pile on the bed. We checked on top of cupboards, under cupboards but she was no where to be found. Just by sheer chance hubby thought hed check the kids room again and yelled out I found her.

I went to the room but he wouldnt tell me where she was, just said to keep looking. Well Narla loves her Nanny (me) and I called her and heard her meow. Call again and again meow………found her finally. Curled up right at the back of a drawer that kids had left open when they went to work.

Of course once she knew she was found she didnt want to hide there any more and moved out onto the bed.

But talk about panic mode when we couldnt find her!

Bread Babies!

One of my favourite things is finding oddities in food! And by oddities, I dont mean creepie crawlies or anything nasty, Im not that weird. So for example, I once found a heart shaped potato, and I also found a carrot that looked like a little person with legs.

This week, I bought a loaf of bread that had a bread baby! Throughout the entire loaf, every time I took a new slice, there was a baby slice in one corner. Our little one thought it was hilarious, only now doesnt understand why all loaves dont have bread babies.

A Labour Of Love

I dont like AI much but its all the rage so I thought Id try it and make an image of my birth Mothers cat.

She is in a Residential Aged Care facility and cant have her beautiful boy with her.

Kingston II is a Ragdoll with (what I found out) the Turkish Van markings. She doesnt have any photos of him as he was relatively new before she was put into care. She absolutely adores her Kingston and we have quite a few conversations about him.

Now how do I make an image that would bear some resemblance?

I thought Id try this new found way to generate this boy and after many attempts I managed to get pretty close.

A cousin in Sydney (because thats where BM is) visits every week so I sent a myriad of images to him and he took them in and with instructions from BM I put images into PSP and adjusted colouring and markings until the last lot of photos where one was pointed out as being her Kingston.

The reason for all this was I wanted to have Kingston printed on a pillow so he could sit on her bed or she could cuddle the pillow.

I sell on a platform where people choose the offered designs and the image can be printed on a heaps of different products so put the image in there and chose the two products, ordered from my account and they are now in production.

Besides the pillow I also put the image on a spiral notebook also, as when I visit, BM always has bits of paper with notes and phone numbers on them which she keeps in the seat of her mobility walking aid.

Figured that way she can put all her phone numbers into the book and less likely to be lost. So after many many hours of manipulating the original generated image I will be now able to give these things too her.

Why did I spend so much time getting it right, well it really was a labour of love to be able to have a way she could have her beloved Kingston II with her.

She previously had another kitty called Kingston hence this one is Kingston II.
