This delightful teapot design was a pleasure to easily and quickly complete by following the stitch lines as shown on the original image.
I have used a combination of return running stitch, back stitch, and varying stitch lengths from 1-3 and 1-5.
The teapot stitching design is completed using single strands of embroidery floss in 3 different shades of mauve, one of dark purple and 2 strands of yellow polyester machine thread, to stitch the central flower.
I have used dry water colour pencils to lightly colour the finished work. The work is copied onto A4 white card and when completed trimmed down to measure 21x12cm.
I have scored vertically and folded back , using mountain folds, these sections, at 4.5cm and 16.5cm, so that the white stitched card can then become 12cm x 12cm by folding back, the 4.5 cm wings on either side.
I have used a second 120gsm white card printed on one side with cup814313_79993, Christmas lace effect backing sheet, a design by Clare Walker, changing the hues of the sheet to be in pale pink tones which I have cut down to measure 25 x12cm.
I have set this aside while I completed the card front.
I used a section of the same lace effect pink card to cut at 20.5 x 12cm and turned the stitched work over to reveal the back, then used red power tape to attach it to the left hand fold, using red power tape, leaving 13 cm not attached and the 7.5cm patterned pink backing sheet to attach this to the back of the folded wing and the 12cm width of the completed stitched work.
To compete the card front I have used cup828781_118, Birthday Tea #3 By Carol Brown, which I have printed the main image to measure 11cm square and attached using D.S. tape to the pink 12cm square lace effect backing sheet.
I have used a small piece of white card to add a bright pink sentiment and attached this to the decorative pole.
The card front is finished with a blue with mauve spot ribbon which is continued and attached to the inside, then finished with a bow.
The embellishments, of the vertical birthday sentiment, the mauve coloured peel off strips and the purple tiny gems complete the main feature page.
This card is for my charity craft group ladies to use and be able to all sign for the Birthday lady of the current 2 weeks meeting, so the last page has been left with space for many to sign.
I am still to add the verse I have chosen from the free verse section as my printer is currently out of action for a week.
This completed card stands to display all 3 sections at one glance and yet is small enough to fit into a 14cm square envelope.
This is a beautiful design which makes a delightful female greeting card. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
