Stitching with beads
Photographs from the Community
I have used green polyester thread to complete all the stitching on the design, and 144 beads to complete the beading part of the design, provided on the sheet, by Emy van Schaik.
I have copied the design onto an off white 16cm square light weight card which has an all-over very small dainty holly and berry Christmas style print.
I followed the very easy to follow stitching guide lines, completing all the stitching before attaching any beads. I have used green glass seed beads, gold glass seed beads, gold metallic 6mm rice beads, and 8mm metallic multi coloured luminescent beads to complete the beading part of the project.
I used the green polyester thread and began by attaching the 8 green glass seed beads in the very centre of the design.
The 8 gold metallic rice beads, inside the petal shapes, each have a gold glass seed bead at each end and are attached using the same green thread.
The 8 fan shaped beading designs each have 7 of the larger multi coloured rice beads forming the fan shape and one small green seed bead at the outer edge.
In total I have used 64 green glass seed beads, 8 gold metallic rice beads, 16 gold glass seed beads and 56 multi coloured larger metallic rice beads.
I then trimmed the completed work down to measure 14cm square and attached a plain white copy paper backing, using red power tape to secure all the stitching, before attaching the topper to the card front.
The main white 29.5 x 15 cm card has cup797371_7993, Christmas mistletoe and berries background sheet, a design by Clare Walker, printed onto the inside as the insert embellishment, and a broad organza and satin striped ribbon across the lower front edge and continued around and secured on the inside top open edge of the card.
I used red power tape to attach the finished topper, allowing the bottom 4mm of the ribbon exposed at the lower edge and the full ribbon visible on both the left and right hand edges of the card front.
I then used a red peel off strip of tiny stars to attach to the very edge of the main completed topper.
I have added a glitter red deer and a Christmas sentiment to complete the embellishments for the card front. To complete the insert I have used a verse from the free Christmas greetings for friends list, and some red peel off strips as extra embellishments.
This design looks complicated at first glance, however by following the easy instructions the work simply falls into place. I am hoping to also include at a later date a card made using royal blue card and silver thread, and one in pink and blue hues.
I love this design. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
